What if i am in a stage of starting to turn and already knowing to get up and to catch waves? Should i start with low volume shortboards?

Great stuff! Maybe one for intermediates? Turning from the middle of the board/back foot not back far enough...sitting too far out in the line up and missing waves...sitting on the shoulder and missing the peak...pumping too much and outrunning sections and surfing too horizontal
