I think Bethany and her family are by far more amazing than the movie ever showed, or ever could. Their tremendous faith, so strong, and pure, saw them through the life-changing horrific ordeal in a way that Hollywood is just not able, nor does it seem willing, to portray, with its penchant for high drama. I dont see whats so inspiring about her story? Her arm got bitten off by a shark and she continues to surf. The survivors of the USS Indianapolis were in the ocean for 5 days without food or water surrounded by thousands of sharks, men got bitten by sharks and they had to continue life with the memory of watching their friends die and get eaten.

Are you an idiot or? Did I say her arm prevented her from surfing? I can obviously see that she can surf just fine. She lost her arm, she adapted. She changed her surfboard, she found different techniques that worked for her. She adapted. If I lost my leg, I would have to adapt and learn new ways to adjust. Simple as.

Don't talk to me about what you perceive to be adaptation, okay? I have Cerebral Palsy, so I have to use a wheelchair to get around. Bethany is still surfing, so my point about how she has proven that she obviously doesn't need that other arm to surf, still stands. If Bethany, who went through this trial, can give God the credit, why can't anyone else? If you watch the movie, the character says "I wouldn't change what happened to me because it allowed me to embrace more people than I could have with one arm" (paraphrasing). How many people, whether or not they have a faith, would have that attitude? I can only hope to have as much as faith as this young woman.

omg. bethany hamilton<3 through christianity it gives her so much faith. she knows exactley how to be strong, in ways that most people would never be able to do. in ways, i want to feel bad for her, but her strength is amazing, and it seems she doesn't need my sympathy. she needs our hope for her, to always try her best! she's the biggest inspiration to everyone, and everyone is there to support her. i am sooo amazed by her. and greatful. i am also a christian, and i love her faith in him! <3<3!

I think she was blessed by him, I do honestly believe if it's not your time to go no matter how bad it is you will live. It wasn't Bethany's time. But I hate when christians or any religian says only people that follow by these rules (christianity) will get into heaven and will be blessed by god. How does anyone know what god wants? I've seen her movie 2x now, its the most inspirational and emotional movie i've ever seen. Bethany's a true gift from God, no other way to say it. If watching her movie and her story doesn't help you to know God's absolutely real, i don't know what can. I surf myself an its hard to get up with 2 arms and rip and she's doing it with 1 arm and ripping up huge haves, UNBELIEVABLE. She's an inspiration to anybody, surfer or not, God Bless Bethany Hamilton for speaking about God and her story.

@luxfero What is your problem? It could have happened to any surfer. It's not as though she went out there knowing she would be attacked. The reason she's an inspiration is because even though she suffered a tremendous loss, she didn't let it keep her from living her dream despite the fact that it seemed almost impossible to do so.

It's another way for God to speak to us. Without the Bible, our whole world would probably be doomed because noone would hear the message. God wrote it himself. For us. So we can hear the message about how Jesus Christ died for me and YOU so YOU and I can go to Heaven. People just reject it.

The movie was a way to witness to them and show them the love of our savior and what he can do when you put your trust in him. Look what God did in her life! It's amazing! It's all God. All God. The movie was made in hopes that non-Christians would realize that and turn to God. Bethany's story is proof that God exists and is for everyone. It's so amazing what God can do.

But many peoples' religions have to do with their cultures and where they come from and is very big on spreading their love of God due to their region and/or family. For me, religion plays a major role in my family's lifestyle so I was born into the Christian faith.

I am glad her self doubt didn't take the best of her. Her Youth was probably a plus! Some athletes are so rigid they couldn't cope. I used to be a distance runner and 1/2 the runners were anorexic. She has a good attitude.

I would highly suggest transferring to a longer bicyclist-type short that goes farther down on the thigh and more conservative top and start deleting all records of your "bikini-style" clothing from the past that you are able to. This would complement your "Christian-testimony" more.
