lightning bolt. Im old school, this is how you surf, not all that cut back stuff. theres no finesse these days. gerry was as fluid as the waves he rode. cowabunga.

My wife and I got to meet Gerry Lopez in August when he was in town promoting his book. A thrill that I will remember the rest of my life. Gerry is humble and soft spoken, but one immediately senses his greatness when he speaks. We also met his wife who is a very nice and interesting lady. What a wonderful couple.

Gerry influenced so many surfers worldwide. My first board as a kid in the mid 80's was a GL "Lightening Bolt" single fin 7 foot. Now that board was fun to wax. I still remember the smell of Mr. Zoggs Sex Wax & hauling that big board with my buddy on the bus to Trestles in the summer. Good times*

The coiled is perfect, then. It's short so it doesn't tangle. It will absorb the force and you won't feel that sudden tug that regular leashes do. It's also not powerful enough to pull the board to smack you. Give it a try. I think you'll like it.

I will give it a try but it's just when the stretchy quality of the leash itself comes into play with the shortness of the leash it could spell disaster. I mean you could always have a leash that has connectors in multiple places so it doesn't tangle.

Give the coiled a try, they don't have that much force that will pull the board that fast towards you to hit your face.

They always get wrapped around my legs. If I were to get a coiled leash the board would probably come back and hit me in the face.
