It is probably kinda fun to ride that thing with a turbo reactor stick in the ass, but it is even more fun to ride regular surfboard correctly, no engine, just using the wave energy. Plus the silence during the lulls is part of surfing, these machines would ruin it, the peak would sounds like a karting circuit.

my dad was the first person in hawaii to ride a motorized surfboard. he said he became friends with one of the surf shop owners on the island while he was filming in the area and during his visit the owner got in a shipment of motorized surfboards, that shop was the only shop on the island with them and no one ever heard of it before, my dad said they opened two up and tried them out, said it was one of the most badass things he has ridden. my dad later mailed the guy when he was back in newyork and ordered one for himself. which he still has till this day and i have ridden

Did he really say it is the greenest engine on the water? I HIGHLY doubt that. It is a carbureted, pre-mix 2-stroke. You can't get much dirtier than that. I would recon a 150hp outboard is more efficient than this 10hp engine. And really, you recommend 30:1 mix ratio? What is this, 1975? There's no reason you can't be running 50:1 or even 80:1.

I don't get it. What's so new about this??? Looks like the boards have evolved slightly and have been refined somewhat but I remember seeing 'jet boards' powered by 2&3 cylinder 2 stroke engines available for sale at local powersports dealers well over 10 years ago in the early 2000's.

I don't think it will be legal to ride it in a lineup, close to surfers etc. What really bothers me it' the noise these things probably do, even if they stay far. Just one jetski goofing arround is enough to disturb a quiet sunset. I mean crowds already suck, but can you imagine if these things mass market and you'll have 10 of these, 20, 50, 100 of these buzzing arround? :(

Almost everyone is on here complaining about this board. You guys are acting like it the first thing to ever hurt the environment. Get a grip. I'm sure you've ridden in a car or a boat with a motor NEWS FLASH: THEY HURT THE ENVIRONMENT. so unless you have never used a ounce of electricity or rode something that has a motor you have no right to complain and another thing not everyone can go 10 min and find a decent wave some of us live in the middle of the country where we have lakes this makes riding a 1 man operation instead of 3 (skier, lookout, driver) this covers so many new possibilities with water sports. You can't think if it as a surf board. It's more of a jet ski that you steer with your feet and in time the motors will probably get smaller and my efficient making it shorter and different shapes like wake boards and maybe even skis. Everything has there drawbacks but you gotta look at the bigger picture this could lead into something so much bigger and if you only think of surfing when this comes up then you need to stop being selfish and grow up surfers arnt the only people who enjoy being out on the water. We love the water too

No offence but what is this bringing to surfing? It may be good for bigger waves and for doing big airs but ultimately, it is powered by a external source. Not the wave. Meaning hypothetically, any person with no surfing experience could jump on and ''surf'' a wave because there is no paddling required. This just seems like a more powerful wavejet to me!

Air intake is in the front (there is rubber stuff - new version is longer) - it can handle some time in the water, but of course you can fill the air boxes and then engine bay with water if you work hard.

You are wrong in so many different ways. The jet surf is powered by a 2-stroke engine. Which runs on gas, not electricity. If you listen to the video, you can hear them rev up the motor. Electric motors don't sound like internal combustion ones. Lastly, while electricity may not directly pollute, most of it is provided by burning fossil fuels.

when they started snowboarding in the 70's, they would not allow you on the slopes to do it, you had to hike up just to get a run in, I know because I did it. Now, snowboarding is one of the biggest sports on the planet. People were threatened by it because it was different, just because this ski has its own motor it does not ruin anything because it is not surfing. it is a hybrid new sport so just maybe, you should change your bias and embrace and appreciate what they do atheletically.

its 15kg max (13kg without fuel) - means stops from full speed on few meters after removing cutoff (you get hand out of the handle). Sure you can hit smthng if you want, otherwise pretty safe (in comparison with jet ski…)

sure its pricey, but look at specs - 12-13 kilos, over 50 km/h… means full carbon body and special engine (and thats make the price now) with mass production it can go down, but no to 2K:-(
