ty for the video. I wonder if you raise your chest mostly using your arms, or mostly by arching your lower back, or mix of both. Because I feel that if I use too much arms then I'm going to sink the front of the board into the water...

All good stuff, but it would help a great deal to see some examples of popping up without using your toes (i.e., as you would on a shorter board). It's hard to tell whether you're using your toes in this video.

Great vids, i was thinking a vid on footwork would be great, covering all aspects of it from tube riding and simple carving but to show how it changes as conditions change and different types of waves. If its already been done i havent been able to find any. Thanks

But are you pressing down on the rails or on the sides when you’re popping up from the board?

Not really because the board should be planing enough to not be sinking that much. The top half of the board should easily be riding high.

probably not the best habit. when your fingers curl around the board they catch in the water and slow you down

This is more of a how to pop up video. The takeoff is more about positioning and wave reading. When the wave is too flat, when its too late, when to go left or right..what a closeout looks like...paddling to the peak...arching your back on a shortboard to make late takeoffs and make steeper waves.
