When you start surfing, you begin a lifelong journey of self-improvement and chasing that intangible (& non-existent) goal of perfecting your abilities. During the Beginner stages there are traps which a lot of beginner surfers fall into. These traps, errors in technique which often become habitual, restrict a surfer's potential growth and progression in the sport. In this video I talk about 4 of the most common beginner mistakes that I see holding surfers back. Surf how you want, or you’ll be missing the main point.
But the first was the most important. You cant do anything if you don't read the wave properly.
Pay attention to the wave and your body when you ride it. Don’t think about it too much and you’ll be flying through sections in no time.
My one request is that you make videos using longboards (8 foot or so), because thats generally what we (begginers/intermediates) are trying to learn with.
