I do not personally know, but, I call bullshit! in the ocean. in the ocean! get what u get. Kelley's wave is next level, but to me, it is really not surfing. it, to me is fake. every wave the same, every time? never happens in the ocean. this is negating my passion as well as many upon many others. it is amazing, but, if u show up at my spot, thinking you are all that cuz u learned in a swimming pool I will closeley drown u and buy u a ticket to the island of you're fucking choice! one way!

This event was incredible... I loved the team format.
I can foresee a division of the WSL that is a team sport...
Imagine having these wave pools all over the world, just like there are football fields, and teams of surfers compete in this format for Local Division Championship, and State, and National, and World Surf Team Championship.
It could be amateur and professional.
In world Cricket the Indian 20/20 model has now revolutionised cricket and made it huge again...
This could have the same effect on surfing..
As the technology improves, and the bathymetry is more understood, waves of all different size and shape are going to be made...
This is going to be a massive step forward for surfing...
I will never stop loving the ocean, but seeing this for what it is, and the potential is not a bad thing..

Pretty much how they lost is they got out-surfed across the board, by better surfers who had spent much less time in the pool training than team usa. simple...lol

I know it's not meant to, but this wave will never compare with ocean waves. It's the unpredictability that make ocean waves great for both free surfing and events. I disagree with KS that surfing should evolve way faster on this wave. It's exactly the opposite.

Yeah I am not sure why Wilson wasn't in there, maybe the new baby or something. I thought the rest of the team was fairly solid though. Truth be told I didn't watch the entire event so I can't comment on everyone's performance, but when I did tune in I was shocked to see AUS down the ladder a little. I really thought it was going to be a foot race between us seppos and you guys just due to the female surfers ( since they counted equally)....I did not see the world team coming! Cheers though!

David Juliano part of what happened is we picked the wrong surfers for the team , not sure why Wilson was replaced and I don't think the pool suits wilko he's to big and lanky for that wave . The other thing is it's a 2 foot kiddies wave where you'd expect Brazil to shine

david, just goes to show, a new format, new style of wave, that was actually a real challenge for all the pro's. heaps of falls and uncompleted waves. it's an anything can happen style of event, which is pretty good viewing, and how many of them were knackered after those 2 waves?

@grakkerful, Yes. Very predictable wave to watch. I much rather watch any other event on the world tour because there are surprises. This ranch wave looks fun to experience and participate in, but it's monotonous to observe.
