I grew up tubing. I hit a wave once and it skyrocketed me into the air (but I held on to the handles) and my face came down on the back of my friends head and completely knocked me out. I woke up about 15 seconds later with blood pouring from my nose with blurry vision. Good thing I had my PFD lol...

you ever see how easily an unconscious person slips under water and drowns? It's really really hard to find a person in time to save them once they slip under the water. but they are free people. do whatever you want, idiots not wearing jackets in these situations just strengthen the gene pool.

Agreed. I'm not a safety sally but at those speeds, hard impacts can happen whether it be head on water, a log, each other, etc. Hard impacts on the head can make ya go unconscious... most people dont swim well when they are knocked out. Tubing without a life jacket is about as stupid as going into a hot tub solo unsupervised when you are piss drunk. just a recipe for disaster.
