Learn to surf. In today's surf lessons I wanted to demonstrate a popular surfing technique know as the pop up. This is one of first surfing tips you will learn if you decide to enroll in a surf camp or take a surf lesson from a professional. The pop up is not a different surf technique to learn...it just takes a little balance and of course some practice. So get out there in the surf and practice those pop-ups. It depends on you. Do you snowboard or skateboard? It would be the same foot forward. If you don't know that, run and slide on the ice or a slippery floor. Whatever foot you naturally put forward... Is your answer.

Freeze frame after he pops up - knees both pointing out from each other, and both hands on same side (both these things VERY bad) - try this on the water and it's a formula for an instant wipeout. Definite kook.

@hempds honestly dude i longboard skateboard, freestyle skateboard, blade,ski,snowboard, so i have a good sense of balance, and i tried surfing it might a help just a bit, but its still fuckin hard,lol

His front foot is way off centre ... in both instances. That will not help with balance at all.

right foot is way off you missed the x spots youre knee technique is totally wrong i have taught over 5000 people to surf using 4 stand up techniques the pop up only 8% of students can do properly..what are you going to do if a 195lb guy that cant pop up do? i will post a video of those techniques this week for you to see and demonstarte them on land on on the water....

I've seen different people suggesting different places to put your hands when you pop up. Should you grab the rails of the board when you push yourself up, or do it as he does, place your hands on top of the board and the push up?
