Back in May, we took a trip to Bali with some of Volcom’s team. We shipped individual pieces plastic and assembled them into what we would later call “The Dock”. For three days, we towed the entire 100 foot, half tonne Dock from Benoa Harbour 13 miles away to a break south of Keramas and filmed. It turned out to be a rather dangerous affair. Actually, afterwards, nearly every surfer spoke of the terror, but more importantly the fun. "I’ve got the same feeling you get when you’re getting barreled so much that you kinda go brain dead because you’ve been having so many crazy and fun times.” Noa Deane after becoming acclimated to the stationary step-off. “Everything about the dock was dangerous: The whole idea, the ropes in the waves, giant plastic heavy duty industrial blocks coming at your head,” photog Tom Carey, who waddled on the platform snapping photos and dodging it every time it wore a wave on the head told us afterwards. "It’s a miracle no one got hurt. There were some close calls but everyone walked away unscathed." We’ve received a lot of feedback after releasing this shoot.
