best board to get for these kind of waves besides a stubby beater type board is a JC SD III pinTail that’s a tuffLite punchout used. It could still snap but less likely n you won’t be totally heartbroken or money broken by it getting trashed. They’re pretty flat low entry rocker n darn narrow. Prob 28-29L or so

This was such a shitty day for me lmao..let me tell you a story. So last big swell, I caught the biggest wave of my life like halfway out the south jetty, so I wanted to do that again. So I showed up on Friday with my 7'11 thinking I'm gonna be cool and ride the cloudbreak again. But, as soon as I start paddling it's instant regret. All my muscles are super tired from work and I'm starting to think this is a bad idea. The water was just warping and moving so powerfully. When I was watching from the beach, big peaks weren't breaking that much so I felt confident I could get around sets, but by the time I got out there, the tide had dropped and now cloudbreakers were womping everywhere and I felt super sketched out and not confident like last time. I got paranoid that my old leash tie would break, because if I lost my board way out there, I'd be fucked. So fuck this, I drift around with my balls up in my stomach somewhere frantically avoiding sets and I realize I couldn't paddle straight back in or I would get womped by cloudbreakers and shorebreak, so I decide the safest thing to do would be to literally paddle all the way around the pier to the northside where it was mellow. So I'm like halfway between the south jetty and the pier, lined up with the crane, and I paddle all the way to the fucking northside and catch one of the AIDS-waves in. I think I'm gonna stop fucking with the cloudbreak.
