its suppose to be 3 kv per 1mm of air but that is when you have a 3kv flat line ac current fluctuates a lot but if you think logically you wanna stay away from the line at least the same distance as the ceramic insulators that are on the power poles

There was a case in Australia recently where 2 kids were sitting on the edge of a train bridge (about 1m from the powerlines) and the power suddenly jumped over to them, almost killing them.

If that selfie stick gets even close to the powerlines there's a very big chance that the power will arc over to the stick and electrocute the person holding it. Very, very dangerous idea.

I was watching a vid of a guy who was busted with his friend. He basically said if the train is stopped and you're on it then it moves it's trespassing, but if you hop on it while it is moving it's federal. I can't remember the video, but the guy was famous for doing some crazy skateboard trick.
