I've surfed Ixtapa jetties Mexico same size, same form with less chocolate to the water. It is Mexico, so I couldn't predict water quality based on water clarity. But, it does have a heaving hollow barrel breaking in 4-6 feet of water....

Dane Linderman well you've never surfed Costa Rica's Boca Barranca. Incredibly long left and also incredibly polluted from the river mouth which is fed from the Central Valley all the way to the coast. Sewage and crocs and people still surf it constantly. People surf shit breaks all the time.

I agree about the sediments movement changing the colour of water, especially during rain season.
But coastal pollution is not a joke in Lagos.
See those rocks on the background? People defecates there, I defecated there.
There's an average 8 months of flat spell out of 12 in the bay.
8 months of shit washed in the sea at the first swell.

But I'm 38 and alive and still dream those chocolate barrels.

Listen Ponyboy didn't want to die his hair but he had to. He just had to. He decided it didn't matter what he looked like, and he did the right thing. When Dally came to check on him and Johnny they went and ate BQ sandwiches. Ponyboy got BQ sauce on his face. So yes, Alot of surfers would like boogie boarding better but stick with surfing because they want to be "cool." Editors of magazines(Chris CotE and Evan Slater) have sponged while injured and they basically said what I just did.

NON !!! Surfing these days is about image and fitting in. All the characters and dudes who followed their own path are gone. Also, it's not about fun anymore it is about performance. It's not about having fun, it's whether you landed that last reverse, and if someone saw you pull it off. That's what it is all about. Fun ??? Ain't no fun out here anymore. The pros don't even vomit on each other, during drinking contests, on airplanes these days.

I'm a sponge and I'll cut and sodomize anyone. But you are absolutely right....for the most part surfing does LOOK cooler than bodyboarding. Plus youse guys have a way better name than ours. I cringe when I hear, "Boogie Boarders," and "Bodyboard" sucks too. But sponging feels better. It's like being with the fat homely gal that you completely get along with and connect with. Surfers would leave her for a better looking alternative.....because it looks better. You dig real good, Ponyboy.

Looks like Tarkwa Bay in Lagos. I used to bodyboard there in around 1990. Yes, the water is polluted, but so warm! Crazy cultural experience, but not that consistent surf.
