Alot of natural waste ends up in the water in indo, leaves and stuff, branches etc. There is also alot of Flotsam, items that were not deliberately deposited in the sea, but are from man made structures, bit of boats, fishing gear, wood, fences etc. Then there is Jetsam, things that have been jettisoned into the ocean, unfortunatley for indo, the latter take s a big chuck of whats in the ocean. Don't blame the people, blame the government and its lack of infrastructure in regards to collecting waste, for locals its burn or dump in the river, which when it rains bursts in to the sea. Rarely will you see coastal dwelling indigenous people tossing trash directly in to the sea.

+Orion Lehrmann Yo man, i really dont get the "gotta keep it a secret" shit:/ This wave is far from perfect, they dont show the close out end section that can lock you in and give you a nice[not] ride over the reef,lol. There are HUNDREDS of perfect waves all over Indo and many other places that are rarely or never surfed!! Very few have the go in em to get out there and look:/ Most surfers tend to congregate around just a few pretty well known waves! This island has a number of better waves that you never see! The Ments for instance have shitloads of surfers fighting for waves when not far away there are waves that would blow you away, and there is noone there,lol. If you want i can hook you up with any number of top waves where you will be looking for guys to surf with!! I mostly surf alone or with a mate or two:/ I have surfed this wave, but ime in no hurry to go back as i am really spoiled for choice of MUCH better waves:) In the 80s i did a lot of exploring all over Indo, now its the Phillipines, Timor, New Guinea and Palau to name just a few! The only place in Indo i go back to is NIAS!! That is a PERFECT wave!! Surfers are mostly a lazy lot that tend to go only to well established waves where you have to put up with crowds of idiots:/ Use the tool that i did not have the benefit of in the 80s to find waves...GOOGLE earth:) You can find waves, find how to get there the easiest, then find the places to stay etc!! This is how i get uncrowded perfection now!! Do it man!!

Technically yes, but people have been surfing for years and years, and no one ever gets fined. And it's not because of bird watching, it's so that the birds can mate in peace. But they're fine, it's just bureaucracy and no one cares.

Beautiful footage, as to the kooks post? Everyone must learn to surf. I learned early was 6 years old in '64 and surfed in contest and was a gremmie kook. In teen years we decided we hated kooks for a short time until we realized some of these kooks were real good people, some were even family, some became bosses and some were teachers and great martial artists. So kooks? Everyone is a kook. Teach a beginner to surf and believe me you'll get a surf stoke/joy you've never felt before. A-One movie

Great vid, super inspirational! The wave @2:09 is a MONSTER!!! And Lee Wilson has MAD steez. Anyone can ride a barrel like that, but he makes it look good! Looks like he takes a beating too a couple of waves later. The soul arch gets a close second.

I traveled to south africa to surf by myself and lived there for 6 months and it was awesomness, i'm just not a big camera person so there's little evidence, anyways, made lots of friends met a few bad people and aholes and got better at surfing HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

We surf waves at Crescent City CA and if you've ever been here you'd know that the waves arnt too good. Our DREAM is to travel to all the famous surf spots around the world and make the best of it. life is way different in your fifties....you have a more stringent life, including family and carea commitments, let alone the fact that my knees are fucked and im lacking in match fitness. you need to be able bodied and free of commitments to take on these ventures, so thats why its easier when you are young. this was my dream when young....my dreams have changed and are very different these days, but at least im still living my dream every day!!
