Please yes.... I have a sister who is autistic, and through years of intense therapy and home efforts she went from nonverbal and violent to verbal and high functioning. She has a great sense of humor. Parents of autistic kids normally shelter the kid and do all they can to control their environment and make the kid feel better short term. They get so righteous too, all while setting their kid up for failure, it's ridiculous.

I am a cynical person. I am usually annoyed with how people pedistalize people with disabilities as though there mere existence is a triumph. I just never found the connection that someone who stands up is supposed to make me feel inspired. There are only a few times where I have seen someone with disabilities make me look at them and feel happy. I have seen a guy with down syndrome become a body builder and actually look like a body builder and I though that was awesome. This guy right here is another guy with a disability that I look at and feel happy. He doesn't use his diability as a crutch or anything, the mother fucker is surfing, and he is actually hilarious.
