Surf Lakes | Australia's First Wave Pool
Surf 6 years ago 246,112 views
Watch Mark Occhilupo, Barton Lynch, Joel Parkinson, Ben Player and friends test the first waves produced at Surf Lakes, an artificial surf pool located in Yeppoon, Queensland, Australia. The wave pool is only working at half capacity. Engineers believe that the system - named "5 Waves" - will be able to produce ripples in the eight-foot range. Seems they canned that idea for the capitalist "pay to play" agenda.
Damn shame that.
Il give it a yr & thankfully the doors will close.
“I’ve seen bigger waves in a toilet”
..get a dbl overhead wave and it will be future
Also, the five different levels of waves allows for a wide variety of watercraft. The Intermediate wave is perfect for short boards, long boards, SUPs and surf skis. The Advanced and Expert waves suit short boards and knee boards.
5 Waves world firsts
Simultaneous wave types: 5 types of waves, each of which vary in difficulty, size, length and shape, at the same time
Most breaks in a wavepool: 10 separate waves (4 left and 4 right reef breaks) plus 2 beginner waves
Largest surfing lagoon in the world: Water volume 80 megaliths
Largest wave face height: Up to 2.4m face height. 2.2m achieved at mid-level prototype testing
Highest wave productivity: At full commercial capacity, 5 Waves will be able to produce over 2,400 waves per hour, allowing up to 240 surfers in the lake at the same time, all catching 10 waves per hour ''
That is not what I m seeing here ...
We are NOT impressed.
Hurt me!!!!!!
You can get more fun in real salt water for free at your most average beach break.
The Californian and Texas wave pools at least offer manufactured perfection for the chlorine addicts.
This is just..........(struggling for an adjective here)........LAME!
Pump out 6' to 8' lines - anyone will pay top Dollar. This doesn't warrant any serious consideration - yet I have spent 5 minutes commenting on what a let down this is.....
Amaze us with real 8' peaks!

So check this...
Combo Kellys wave with the Venus Project city design and you get...
24 perfect waves wrapping the circle city water belt all day every day every city. This would keep all the water moving while backfilling with clean, treated water. The 24 sleds would need to reverse direction every hour so that the lazy river doesnt get going to fast.

oh wait, you're probably related to him.. so anything i'll say will always be wrong in your perspective. nvm
Let me guess, you're a kid, aren't you ? i feel bad for you kid. You need help. Does your momma know you like to insult people on the internet ? or does she even know you are on it ?
Does mummy know you are playing internet tough guy again sweety.....lol.......
Shape looks nice... but they need to work on amplitude. Slater looks to have broken the head high plus barrier... Occy's not tall.
