Professional surfer Tom Dosland was caught on camera during a scary freefall from a huge wave in Maui, Hawaii, on January 27. Dosland described the incident to Surfer Magazine later, saying that striking the face of the wave was "a brutal beating, like I was in a car crash." People commenting about the actual distance of the fall on a Jaws wave, ignoring the fact that HUNDREDS of TONS of violently moving water come crushing down on him from what looks like a forty-foot wave... and tumble him like a rag doll (that's the brutal beating part, not the fall)..keep in mind: "When looking at an average big wave, each cubic meter of water weighs about 1 ton. If the wave is about 10 ft tall and the lip (top) of the wave is about 20 ft long, the wave itself weighs about 410 tons, which is equal to about 315 small cars." Now, consider the hydraulic force of these Jaws monsters...

The force of these waves can push the surfer down to 50 feet below the surface that can burst eardrums or actually kill these surfers that been trained to escape these monster waves. There have been a number of professional surfers that have died in these large waves.

Nature needs respect and only fools underestimate it's force!

you have to assume he is 5-6 feet with that calculation he falls about 4 body lengths, so more like a 25 foot fall
