I think we’ve all been here in life at some point. Being in this situation in the ocean requires a particular set of skills. If your not adept at “duckdiving” very large waves you have no business being out in surf like this. Even I know I’d be fine caught inside like this as duck diving is second nature to me... however the waves seem a bit too huge for me!

I am 45 kg and I have 6’6” soft board so I can’t dive so my only hope is to get off the board and dive under and hope my leash does not snap

Think back in time, when there were no cords to save you, except your ability to swim in after being hit by a 3,4 or 5 wave set. Energy gone You get gassed out, hoping that one of your friends see's you and comes to your rescue. In the big board days, it was much more difficult. You quickly learn how to swim, your life and board depended on it. If you don't die it makes you more ocean aware, improving reading waves and last. Respect!

mrquizical I broke my leash in some pretty good sized surf last week... I found out it’s much easier to duck dive waves with no board! LoL I sure freeked out for a minute right after the leash snapped though. Then I remembered I’m a good swimmer and wetsuits float you.

Yes....they do and right up the beach sometimes in 4 ft of water depending on the channels- the ocean is where they live ,it's like asking if one find humans on the montain slopes - not to instill fear into you but they are there ,such is life.

I love seeing the two different perspectives of being caught inside from both the shore and the cam on the board. If one only looked at the cam on the board it didn't really look that large, but once you get the perspective from the shore you can see that shit was big and gnarly.

that was acually filmed at rodeo beach/fort cronkhite in san francisco/marin headlands. crazy because its my local spot and i only realized it once it panned out to show the rest of the beach. no reef just sand but still a good undertow and ive been in this guys situation before and it sucks
