Hmm, when is the last time you attended the presentation that takes place before the bore int he summer months? There are usually close to 100 people there every day to see it! Many stay to watch how fast the water fills in and to ask questions, visit the information centre and walk the riverfront trail.

We have the same phenomenon in Sri Aman, Sarawak (Borneo) too. The level is highest when it had not rained for atleast 3 days and there is a king tide coming...

Actually, it's treated waste water. A request was made prior to this 28 km surf to have the flow stopped before and during the surf so not even the treated waste water was flowing...

The Bay of Fundy is located between the provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Not in Newfoundland. :)

The Bay of Fundy has the highest tides in the world and its tide is what causes this amazing Tidal Bore to happen twice a day, every day in the Petiticodiac River in downtown Moncton! The height of the wave changes daily with the phases of the moon and the seasons. There is over 160 billion tons of water that flows in and out of the Bay of Fundy twice a day!

Ellen Jeffries We have a much more spectacular bore of our own on the River Severn in the UK. It only happens on the spring and autumn tides but it can be massive, because the Severn has one of the highest rise and fall tides on Earth.

Considering before you could never notice it ( use to be a small ripple ) till they opened up the flood gates and are letting nature get back to the way it was.
The force of the water comming in and how long they were surfing that current would make anyone be interested in it.

+Queen Victoria well we're terrible sorry that you find no interest in an ocean tide that can produce a tidal bore almost 40 km (approx. 25 miles) up a river system. Apparently a group of international surfers found it interesting enough to come here and surf it. BTW, the cheering was for the surfers, not the tide..... just so there's no confusion ;)

It's coming. The Riverkeepers fought to have the causeway gates removed and now plans are in the works to remove 1/3 of the Riverview side of the causeway and put in a bridge.
