nick logan Just keeping it soft haha. It’s mostly because a lot of what I shoot is shorebreak and the softboards work best but also I mostly shoot the Catch Surf riders. A lot of guys ride softboards too because they ride so well now

Size and placement matter as much as quantity. Think of each fin that's in the water at any given time as a point around which the board can rotate. The center fin on a thruster, and to a lesser extent the rearmost fins on a quad, help hold a line. The others are more for turning.
So yeah, just mounting two forward on a quad is good for goofing around and playing it loose, not so much technical stuff.

Not A Uav it depends on the board but generally tri fins are a bit looser than quads. The quad used as a twin fin by Kalani was a bad idea. Haha
