not as bad as it sounds with the cold. we surf throughout the winter here in the northeast, when the water drops to 37 and the air is sometimes below 20 (of course we never get surf of this size), and with modern wetsuit technology, it is really not that cold once you get in the water and get moving. i have been colder trunking it in july then i have been with a 5/4 in march

From Homer AK, surf all winter in my 6 mil which keeps me warm enough for a good session or two a day. It can be somewhat consistant in the dead of winter however surfed Yaki last year and its good all the time however rarely that big. Best waves I've ever got in AK were in Kodiak at pasagshak and a couple we pioneered around Boulder Bay.
