Blessed with over 7,000 islands, countless surf breaks, and a friendly culture, the Philippine surfing industry is set to swell in the years to come. The Association of Surfing Instructors Philippines (ASIP), together with the Department of Tourism and Tourism Infrastructure & Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) set out to train the first batch of Level 2 surfing instructors in the Philippines, along with over a dozen Level 1 instructors. Australian Level 4 master coach, Gary Palmer presided over the training in La Union. Secretary Ramon Jimenez (DOT) and Mark Lapid (TIEZA) give their views on surfing along with the Level 2 coaches Paolo Soler, Luke Landrigan, Lorraine Lapus & Virgel Ramos.
