..I've surfed 45+ years and grew up involved in lifesaving club in Australia..I surf everyday here in Sumatra Indonesia. This could look like fun to experienced body surfers or boogie boarders, looking for a good thrashing :) ..But your not experienced, or have a surfing background, this is ur worst nightmare for inexperienced swimmers/surfers. If its a tourist area and if alcohol is involved...thats a disaster waiting to happen. If it's an unpatrolled beach, then it probably already has many times. Anyone know where this is??? Would hope people reading the comments, if they see waves like this...just stay out of the water...wait till the swell drops, only swim where a lifeguard is on duty. It's really not worth risking being drowned or paralysed just to show how macho (you think) you are..mother ocean will always win !!!! It's not a matter of being dumb. just inexperienced and not knowing the difference between safe and dangerous. It breaks your heart seeing the devastation for families who lose a loved one, just going for a fun day at the beach.

In surfing its called a "hammer lane" when you cant get set up fast enough before another wave hits you...you need to duck quick and swim right or left for a minute to get out....or you could get sucked in and then way out...

This happened to me when on holiday (I was in tenarine located in Spain)the waves slammed me down and I ended up breaking my fucking leg luckily I survived since the life guards saw me and rescued me and why are women laughing couldn’t she tell that they were struggling to get out???

This is in Cabo San Lucas and she is saying the right thing. Those waves only come once every 5-10 minutes so the best thing for them would be to swim out further, then wait until the set waves end, and then they can easily get out.

You obviously have no experience in waves. Even though the lady has no clue about how to deal with big surf, she is right to tell them to go out when she did, because the biggest waves of the set were about to hit them. If they stayed in shore and tried to hustle in, they could've been seriously injured, or knocked out. Swimming out further at that time was safer, so they didn't get hit by the set. I'm sure she didn't know all of this that I'm saying, but she had a good look at what was coming, and was trying to help them out. When the set dies down, then it would be safer to come back into shore.

You think you can go out and easily find them? Yea, it's unfortunate but this stuff happens all the time..... in Hawaii people stand on the end of lava outcroppings maybe 10-20 feet above the ocean and a rogue swell will come along and wash them out to sea. But yea, this is very dangerous without them knowing it.

what you dont know is that waves come in sets, they are NOT the same size all the time, 3 to 5 waves come usually big, then 3 to 5 come small, you only need to wait for the time a wave can get you out, its a lot of fun once you fucking understand what to do
