yeah :P that was a ground signal... if yuo take the train in a normal way you can't hit it simply throwing your hand out of the window... BUT if you trainride "you have to watch signals!" :P

poles will not be in between the track. I think they will use the lattice tower above the tracks

ride outside should be do with low speeds... BUT train tracks are designed to prevent idiots like people who throw his arms outside windows (you shuold not be able to hit something if you deploy your arm outside a train)... SO... if you ride outside keeping in mind the clearance you will survive :P
Example: in europe you have a clearance between the train side and the obstacles is minimum 0.3G (30% of the railroad gauge)... I don't know in russia, but if it is 30% it means they mus have more than 0,5m (1.6ft) between a train and a static thing (doubled fot train to train clearance, that becomes 1m (3.3ft))

+legoguy400 The trains and tracks are actually designed for people to be able to ride like this. Not passengers, of course, but railroad workers must sometimes ride maintenance trains on the outside to check for anomalies along the way, so there's always enough clearance for that.
