I still remember that news story on tv about a 13 year old surfer girl who lost her arm in a shark attack. It was later confirmed that it was a tiger shark. A family of fishermen caught and killed a tiger shark about a mile away from where the attack happened. There was surf board debris stuck between it's teeth and the debris matched the missing section of Bethany's surf board, so it was confirmed that the shark the fishermen caught was indeed the same one that attacked Bethany.
I thought to myself, "Well this girl probably won't surf again without both arms to balance on a surf board." Boy, did she prove me wrong. I commend her for that. She's now an incredible surfer even with only one arm. She's indeed an inspiration to many.

I must admit it, when I seen this it made me so angry that I wanted to go out and start definning sharks. When I seen this I developed a strong aversion toward those filthy creatures. She is so awesome. Personally, I wish I could rid this world of all of the bad things. I know people say it's not the shark's fault, but whether that's true or not, this still happened, and I think it's wrong. I am a vegan because I am an animal activist, and besides, the animals that I used to eat actually do not harm anyone. I really didn't realize how wrong I was for taking part in that evil, and now the rest of my family calls me weird. I am the only vegan in my family. I have been one for around four years now, and I feel better about my self than I have ever felt before. I love NICE people, and I hate seeing great people like this brave young lady being hurt. She is so awesome.

I was walking around in Bali on a holiday and saw a lot of commotion inside a surfwear store. We saw a girl seated, signing autographs and having photographs with fans. My cousin was like OMFG THAT IS BETH HAMILTON. I was like wut!? I didn't recognise her.

She told me about Bethany, so then we went to a pirate DVD vendor (as there are many in Bali) bought the movie 'Soul Surfer', watched it that night and wow... what a woman! Very inspiring story.

Yeh with regards to the no pain point...I once had my finger chopped off and didnt realise till I saw something red on my hands..your body goes into shock. I felt a tingling sensation in my stub at most. But anyway, what an amazing inspirational girl. Was happy to find out today that she is married and has a child.

Almost every shark attack victim video which I have watched so far have said that they felt no pain at all when losing a limb. I wonder why this is? Is it it due to the shock that they are in that their bodies somehow block out the pain? Or is it generally just because their limb is no longer there meaning that it cannot feel pain?

Stephanie you are an inspiration to me for I am suffering dearly and my life I have a victory toryglen brain tumor and I need a hip replacement and sweetheart I'm in constant pain 24 hours 7 days a week sometimes the pain is so in Deer in my head and in my legs but now the pain is entered into both legs I am 53 years old I'll be 54 soon in May I was born originally on Mother's Day the 8th of May I'm a true Mother's Day baby gift I'm in pain my dear very badly in pain I have never ever in my life so it must be wild it must be fun and must be exhilarating but as it is I have not even started yet to even do something like that I've tried body surfing in the Caribbean which was fun but I'm going to look at you and always think of you your kindness and your heart full of gold specially got guts to come up and tell everybody in the world what you are suffering with and I did hear about a certain power thought it would Hauser that allows limbs to start growing and I did hear about other doctors attaching other people's arms to bodies that would allow this person to have the arm back you can find that you can find that kind of surgery on YouTube there's always ways to get your arm back God intended this look into this and see what you want to do with your life I know you would like to have your arm back and you kept I can hear you probably crying now why did this happen to me well I can remember myself when I was eight years old with a friend of mine in Collingwood climbing the tallest mulberry tree eating mulberries all day long time and that day it rained so bad it was just an unexpected rain and it made the tree wet very wet and when I came down next thing I know I was going in between the branches and I'll just bouncing off every single branch and tell one branch stuck in the side of me and I was sitting there for a while with a branch was inside of me until the branch gave way and I fell pretty well let me tell you a pretty good amount when I hit the ground I had no wind in my body but when I got up and they took me to the Collingwood hospital this stick had missed every artery in my body unfortunately it was good for me there's a lot of things that we're going to go through life that we do not understand day by day hour by hour but life still goes on like I'm not going to give up my struggle but there are times I want to quit my medication because I'm getting sick and tired of taking it first I beat it and then it comes back with a a vengeance and it comes back with a vengeance and it's bad man oh man it suks this new utub

i've heard the same thing with a lot of shark attack victims, they don't feel pain and i have heard that it's because of the speed that the shark goes and the sharpness that it cuts through the bone. One of the shark documentaries i watched, the surgent said that he couldn't do as good as of job at cutting through a human arm with surgical tools and sharks do with their teeth.
