That’s how it is in Minnesota, can’t target bass or pike from March till mid May which really sucks, but all I really want right now is open water, this ice is getting old now! Lol

So if you could help me clear some things up that i don't quite understand...other than throwing a fly, or tying a steel leader or certain pike baits how can you prove you're targeting pike? I know that most lakes around where i live the pike will go for anything (obviously) so like if I'm trying to catch bass with a jerk bait or crank bait and i keep nailing pike how does one get in trouble for it?
P.s. I always practice C.P.R. (Catch, Picture, Release)

Your right, there is no way to completely avoid catching them. These rules are more meant to stop people from intentionally targeting them. You would probably only get in some sort of trouble if you were out there with steel leader throwing big pike baits etc. If you get one on accident they just say to release it right away.

I'm glad you've stuck around! I wouldn't say these rivers are loaded though haha it took me about 3 hours to catch the first 3 pike.. Summer tends to be better fishing for them

Jerome Torrez BS. Big pikes are incredibly robust. I have been pike fishing for 26 years and had 2 fish that did not make it after the release.

Pike do a majority of their growth in the first couple years and falls off. Also much of the largest pikes are found in canada, which has a smaller growing season for most fish. Pike aren’t bothered

It swam off strong in the end, so I think it has a good chance of survival. Pike feed aggressively year round though, so I'd imagine they grow year round as well.

It’s dead you killed it cuz once you rip its gills it’s dead that’s what the bad thing about pike cut the barbs off

None of the hooks were in its gills, never bled at all. I'm not sure why it needed reviving, it didn't fight much either.

I always try my best to show good care for them in hopes that others will follow my example. I don't live near any salt water or seas, but I will be taking a trip in late June that I'll be try to do some salt water fishing at.

Have you ever tried swapping the trebles for singles? I have and unhooking them is a breeze and I never lose any fish

Skylar L hooksets are a breeze the single barbless slide in and slide out very minimal damage to the fish

I have been doing that when fishing for snakehead here as well. My hookup ratio has increased because the hooktip is longer and can penetrate the Snakehead's mouth easier. The hooktips on trebles are too short to get good hooksets. For pike it's more of a safety thing I guess. When I'm back in Holland I'm going to try using singles on my pike lures as well.

David Chester you don’t hook them as easly but when you hook them they stay on and unhooking them is esier. You save fish by switching to singles. I recommend that!

If I can barrel through the woods for steelhead with a musky net you can do it for pike.. just saying.. Great video as always man.

I use to do it, but when you net them they thrash around a lot. And with 3 treble hooks in their face it can easily mess up an eye or put a cut in them. Glad you enjoyed the video!

Great video! You always inspire me to go try and catch Pike in my creek. I’ve never caught one yet in there, but I know pike are there cuz of pictures and a dead carcass of one. I haven’t one yet because it’s a very small population and the creek is shallow so very little deep spots.

Definitely try target some more carp. Huge sport in Europe and they fight hard. Love the pike videos. Keep up the good work. Have you thought about using a waterwolf camera with the lures? Love seeing a pike smash into a lure.

I've thought about using them but I wouldn't want to in the rivers. I'd be afraid of knocking it around too much and breaking it
