Beach Fishing Tips - Scavenging for Bait - Rigs, Tips, Tactics - Catch More Fish

Graeme tries a bit of primitive fishing from the shore. Scavenging for fishing bait, and using a cage swim-feeder that he has attached wire legs to. It's a breezy day that kicks up a small surf, and he checks out the tideline foraging for some shellfish. In a survival situation it is good to learn how to live off the land and forage for food. As nightfall comes he manages to "save the blank" with some fish, enjoying the solitude of the open ocean, the cooking on the beach and of course there are always some Totally Awesome Tips in there as well...ENJOY !! ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ FOLLOW US ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ • Instagram → https://www.instagram.com/tafishingofficial/ • Facebook → https://www.facebook.com/totallyawesomefishing • Snapchat → tafishing • Twitter → https://twitter.com/tafishing ► Become a Patron for monthly Q&A and Behind the Scenes: https://www.patreon.com/totallyawesomefishing?ty=h ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ FISHING PLAYLISTS ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ SEA FISHING: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlJDPmb6OexrDnAFNBNJez8zRe4EECDZY BEACH FISHING: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlJDPmb6OexpRHtX7Wp_3lDa6hAmChIuh CARP FISHING: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlJDPmb6OexrY3ZHJk6KIAva6yZgyL9No FLY FISHING: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLB995E0AF38A6353F PIKE, PERCH & ZANDER: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlJDPmb6Oexpa4bpAxjX6ptu_dgIx3PRW RIVER FISHING: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlJDPmb6OexpWpfhuuFw2kTn5I0-uV5hQ SHARKS & BIG GAME: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlJDPmb6OexqcTMfZwCGgHjGgOHIF4-xE "HOW TO" TIPS: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDAD5E2DCA500FE40 ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ FILMING GEAR WE USE ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Main Camera - Sony Secondary Camera - http://amzn.to/2jXo3C0 DSLR Camera - http://amzn.to/2bXaO1Y Laptop Editing Computer - http://amzn.to/2g4LMd4 GoPro Chest Mount - http://amzn.to/2cjvTBL GoPro Head Mount - http://amzn.to/2bXdwo4 Drone - http://amzn.to/2bXd0GI Mike's Camera Microphone - http://amzn.to/2bThNbb These are Amazon associate links ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ TAF CLOTHING & MERCH ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ UK Clothing Store → http://totallyawesomefishing.spreadshirt.co.uk/ Europe Clothing → http://totallyawesomefishing-eu.spreadshirt.net/ US Clothing Store → http://totallyawesomefishing.spreadshirt.com/ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ TAOUTDOORS ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe to our other YouTube Channel TAOutdoors: https://www.youtube.com/c/taoutdoors

TAFishing if they are in fact an invasive species it seems as if though they would encourage people to use them for bait because that's ultimately killing them faster is it not

Evening Grahem ,

Great show keep it up I’m an avid fan.

My first time to ask anything but here goes...

Me and a few friends are going to the admiralty pier in Dover in a couple a weeks for a 24hr session
The aim is for COD but we will probably end up with whiting hehehehe any tips on bait or what distance we need to be casting out to hav a chance for the cod ?

Any other tips would be great but your vids so far have taught me all I know so far :-)

Many thanks
Where do you fish most would love to meet you and shake your hand

I wouldnt throw that makky tail away, using a size 1 or 1/0 hook, its perfect bait, you can use it over and over. a few years ago I landed 3 whiting in a row on one tail.
Jason Young
Jason Young - 6 years ago
Ahh, cool, wasnt aware of that. Mind you, I generally fish from pier/promenade, so distance isnt much of an issue.
TA Outdoors
TA Outdoors - 6 years ago
The reason we cut the mackerel tail off is that it makes the bait spin in the air when casting .Removing it makes the bait travel better.

I was surprised by your comment about not using Slipper Limpets as bait. I knew nothing of this and so I researched it. It came as a bit of a shock. I don’t know when this all came about. I originate from a coastal town in Essex and can recall quite clearly large numbers of these shellfish washing up on the tideline, especially after rough weather. This was in the mid-to late 1950’s, so they have obviously been around our coasts for while. We used to use them as bait back then, but seldom caught anything on them. Thanks for drawing this to my attention. I always enjoy your videos - especially the sea fishing ones.

Related to the shark family,as are Bull Huss which is also called the Greater Spotted Dogfish. The ones I caught are called Lesser Spotted Dogfish. Next species up in UK would be the Tope which is a seabed sort of shark, then we have our "real" sharks,Blue,Thresher and Porbeagle. The Mako is also an extremely rare visitor, just a handful in a 40- year period. We have some good footage of all 3 sharks in our playlist if you want to check them out.

TA Outdoors that’s a good spot. We’ve been down the far end of trimmingham to the west. Very few people fish there as it’s tricky to get down.
darrenbetts2987
darrenbetts2987 - 6 years ago
Harry Rambo I had a good take last year at Trimmingham but didn’t pick it up quickly enough. It certainly took some line. I figure it was a hound as they were still coming out at the lifeboat house in mundesley but closer to me is Weybourne and the hounds seem to only hit there a week or two. Last year it seemed like only a couple of days.

I'v heard about some decent catches of smoothound, and I myself have had bass up to just under 10lb from Cromer pier. There are some incredible bass living among the pier, but ultimately the place is ruined by idiot fisherman and crabbers. The top spots are all but unfishable due to the sheer amount of line, crab nets and junk lining the bottom, not to mention locals taking as many as 10-15 bass a night each to sell for profit. I'm going to solely fish the beaches this year for them, I'll let you know how it goes
TA Outdoors

I used to walk about half a mile to the left. Seemed like the fishing was better up there. I was tipped off by Jim Ingledew who was a top beach angler and long caster of that era. Night fishing mostly gave the better fishing. No idea what its like now though.

It could very well be a cuttlefish, They are very common in our waters and are generally bigger than squid. There are some videos on youtube of underwater footage of the chalk reefs here in north norfolk, and there are quite a lot of cuttlefish down there. You also find their white bones on the beach.

darrenbetts2987
darrenbetts2987 - 6 years ago
TAFishing which end did you fish at trimmingham? Did you go to Mundesley end where it’s easy to park and Fish or the other end where you go down the cliffs?
We had a couple of sessions recently at Gorleston for COD and rays but blanked.
TAFishing
TAFishing - 6 years ago
I did hear that.I can't think why as I used to drive up to Trimingham,Waxham and other spots just for the Cod and Whiting...shows just how tough our shore fishing is getting. Seems the open beaches are deserts, its only the rough ground marks that are throwing up decent fishing.
darrenbetts2987
darrenbetts2987 - 6 years ago
TA Outdoors fishing up here in north norfolk has been diabolical lately.
TA Outdoors
TA Outdoors - 6 years ago
Yep,I reckon you are right. After squidding on a pier (film up some time ago) the guys on there said it was exactly how a big squid chops through a backbone with its powerful beak to disable their prey...must be a lot of squid in our seas now eating smaller fish after the commercials stripped our mackerel stocks. The squid are maybe taking the place of the depleted mackerel stocks, though I hear that squid populations worldwide are on the increase due to general overfishing of other species....getting tougher to find good fishing all the time !!

As a guy that fishes and forages the sea I can say that Graeme is completely right with the oyster shell, one ring = one year, like a tree. Also, every shellfish shown here is good to eat, my favourite way of cooking them being in butter and it's own juices and added to a rice dish like a Spanish paella. Oysters are a particular favourite. Great video once again Graeme and Mike, I don't know about you but I can't wait for the long summer sessions when the mackerel are throbbing at the surface and bass are in hunting them.
