Also, Storm made the Deep Baby Thunder stick, 1/8th oz - 1&¾" - 5-10ft, perfect for deeper spots on the constant retrieve or work it like a jerkbait in shallow runs, you can still find some on Amazon and some online fishing tackle outlets, just bought 2 in rainbow trout pattern from Amazon yesterday.

Matzuo makes a line of Nano Kinchou Minnows that have some of the best color patterns and action, I have several, but when the river gets low in the summertime I wade-hike the still waters and throw the Hot Steel pattern every time and catch everything from creek chubs to pickerel. Also, hit the flea markets or eBay for an ooollld chrome/blueback Rebel Floater, one of the best shallow stream smallie micro wakebait lures that I've ever seen.

I too enjoy micro lure fishing. Try putting barbless single hooks in place of the trebles. Comes through cover easier and you can unhook fish super fast with affecting your landing ratio. I just made a video talking about it.

I've found that with rapalas vs rebels, even when the pattern and size and action are the same, the rapala does better. I think the rapalas have less scent, where the rebels have a slight manufacturing type smell that cab make the difference. I'd definitely always let a rebel lure air out for awhile before using them.

Great video, I follow and and have followed you on your blog as well after finding a reference to your fishing efforts with a YouTube search. A few things, that weird looking caterpillar lure is sold or packaged in many places, at least on the east coast as a Strike King lure. I have a couple and never have caught anything on them. There is a much better caterpillar “imitation”that was made by Rebel, but is apparently discontinued. It was especially effective fishing in streams, where there was over hanging trees - you would throw the lure upstream and it would sink slowly, if you then gave an occasionally twitch, panfish, bass trout would attack the lure in packs of fish of all sizes. The Cicada lure that you mentioned that had the lips, you identified as a “popper”, well I guess you could use it as a popper, but it looks and performs as the old Arbogast Jitterbug, which is now owned by the big lure company that sells/makes Rebel, Bomber and some others. They used to make ma 1/8 oz. version that was a great imitation of a cicada (duh) but was the premier night or low light lure, however fishing it on 4 or ven 6 lb line is problematic, as one time 20 years ago I hung and landed a 5.5 lb largemouth at night on the 1/8 Jitterbug. Interestingly enough, during the 1940’s and 1950’s Arbogast made a fly rod version of the Jitterbug which was about 1/16 oz. in weight. This brings up something else, prior to the advent of spinning tackle in the 1940’s, there were tiny lures, both copies of existing lures and some completely different that were really the size of the micro lures in your video. Problem is some of them are common and can be bought used and fishable on the internet, but some of them like the little Jitterbug, sometimes called the “Peanut Jitterbug”, one in really good condition can bring $30.00. With that kind of cost I’m not fishing them. Which brings up another point, some of the really greet micro lures like the Yo Zuri’s come from Japan. There are some JDM microlures/ plugs that work spectacularly well, the only problem is that they cost $15 and up?
Lastly, I have for the past 50 years collected Ultralight lures, it’s an odd hobby collection, but at least the collection doesn’t take up too much space.

Cool video man, I recently bought about 20 or 30 chinese lures from ebay, some of them are the same as what you've got here. the great thing is they were all average 50 cents, one i even got for $0.19! I hate losing lures to a snag but when theyre this cheap you dont really care lol. The few i have used so far all caught some fish. I was thinking of trolling them behind my kayak like a spinner or spoon but they might be too light for that. have u ever tried trolling microlures or do you just use a simple cast and retrieve?
