Hey Andy, for future reference the girl flatties over 70cm have bad ovaries and no longer breed very well. The best breeders are the girls between 50 and 60cm. It’s a fairly recent study “Pollock, B R. (2014). The Annual Spawning Aggregation of Dusky Flathead Platycephalus fuscus at Jumpinpin, Queensland. Proceedings of the Royal Society of Queensland 119: 23-45.”

Long time watcher recently subscribed. Its good to see people who practice conservation while still enjoying the outdoors. I'm from the states and my fishing season usually ends in October and i have to admit.. I watch and i get envious because people get to fish where the water isn't under a foot and a half of ice. Anyway, I guess my question or request would be to fish for the one thing people dont expect you to fish for or ask you to fish for? Like an example people talk about the american "trash" fish Carp, gar, catfish etc... the normal non game fish species... but what they don't ask for is bowfin, eel pout, suckers, buffalo .. I don't know but I've always enjoyed catching that one entirely unexpected so bizarre its almost creepy sort of fish.. and I'm sure that there is a freshwater fish in Australia,, that is weird.. entertaining and unique in its own special way.. that would be an interesting fishing trip to see! Thanks for the great videos none the less!

Every fish I've seen you cook has made me want to eat fish and I'm really not keen on fish at all.
I think I'll go simple and have a bit of flounder with some crushed Thai sweet chilli chips/crisps done in some butter, I might knock up a little salsa to help nutralise the taste of the fish if it's a really fishy taste.

Really great videos I'm hoping seeing all these catch and cooks will give me some inspirations on what to throw with it if you're not all that fond of fish.

Just a tip when at home scaling a fish, if you have a high pressure hose you can blast the scales off the fish.
