I not sure this is true but I was told that the way to tell if a snake venomus/poisonus is to look at its eye;if it has a cat eye it is toxic if it has a round eye it is safe, once again I don't know if this is true so feel pls to comment and tell me if I'm wrong.

I generally don't get that close to see the snakes eyes. Besides a snakes pull will dilate at night like most creatures.

Just peeked at this to see an Oscar in its natural habitat (or rather: to see the habitat and then the fish, pulled out of it). I've seen far too many floating around apathetically in too small aquariums.

There it was, at 4:36. I've never seen one looking that vital in a tank. So thanks for the post! Just makes me even more convinced that any fish of that size and type do not belong to a home aquarium.

Anyone thinking that his/hers 250 G (~1000 l) or even 500 G tank is 'big', needs to look at this canal, or any other natural inhabitat, and realize what a small litle cage a cube of 250 G really is.

Hey Andy I don't want to be that guy but you do know it is illegal to release any invasive fish back to the wild that you catch right
Sizuper
Sizuper - 6 years ago
That's not actually true. At least I've not been able to verify that anywhere. I've done a lot of looking into it, read every relevant law on the Florida books and directly asked FWC agents to answer the question. It's not even illegal to release lionfish back into the water. The FWC merely on its website "encourages" the harvesting and destruction of all non-native species except a few exceptions like the Peacock Bass, which were legally and intentionally introduced by the state to help control invasive species. The only think that is clear about invasive species is that (1) Its it illegal to use any invasive species as bait in FL, excluding variable platys and fathead minnows, and (2) It is illegal to possess live specimens of non-native species. #2 is law because if you have an invasive species alive in a live well or bucket, there is no way for the warden to know if you just caught it and are harvesting it, or if you brought it from your fish tank and are about to illegally release it.
NateDubzYT

The snake in the beginning was a Everglade's racer (Coluber constrictor paludicola) is a subspecies of the Southern Black racer. And the bird call at 4:13 is an Eastern Phoebe

Have these exotics been spinning you out as much as me? I didn't realize that there were so many in US waters. I guess I'm used to our waters. Carp, Tilapia and a few others are all we have and they're certainly not as prolific. Except for Tilapia. The buggers are in all our closed waters.

Brad Griffin what hook type of hook were you using and it was probably deeper since it was swallowing not biting
Brad Griffin
Brad Griffin - 6 years ago
We used to fish for Gar with long bamboo poles with set lengths of line, a small hook and a float. We'd berley up the water of the rockwall (in Shorncliffe, Brisbane) and then cast out the line and float with a piece of bread on the hook. You'd watch the float, wait for it to dip, then reef back on the bamboo rod, kinda like Tuna fishing on a smaller scale. We'd often catch 30 in a session that way.

Ian Tweedie nope. All u need is a regular hook and a piece of hot dog. All u do is sight fish them and let them had it. If your lucky it will hook the skinny part of their mouth, or he will eat it and get it down to the bigger part of his mouth
