The rainforests in Eastern Belize are one of the most amazing places I've been too. There's an abundance of fish, some big, some small, but all of them are amazing, unique, and beautiful. I fished very little, and screwed up a lot of things, including the fact that I came to the rainforest unprepared with tackle and barely any knowledge, but I learned a lot from the locals so if I go back I will slay. I was able to catch, banded astyanax (tetra), Mexican astyanax (tetra), filespine chulin, Guatemalan chulin, northern checkmark cichlid, and firehead cichlid. I saw many other fish in the Macal and other rivers including mountain mullet, blue eye cichlid, yellowjacket cichlid, firemouth cichlid, salvini cichlid, bay snook, tarpon, blue catfish, obscure swamp eel, common snook, pike killifish, mollies, jack dempsey, and blackbelt cichlids. Many fish are difficult to catch, and the Macal river was very hard to fish, but thats what makes it fun!
