cool vid. Did u camp out there or drive there each day? I just got back also. I stayed out of Los Barriles but made the trek to where you were. Left the hotel at 5am and got there at 630am. I rented an ATV for the enitre trip. Ive wanted to do camping trip there but my wife wouldnt bite. What are your thoughts on that? BTW, I got 2 Roosters and tons of ladyfish.

I am heading to the osa peninsula Costa Rica during Christmas and know nothing about roosterfish. There are no guides in my area so I am trying to make preparations to do it all myself. I will be flyfishing and my biggest rod is an 8wt. I was wondering about fly sizes and choice, as well as will my weight handle? Also was wondering what leaders to buy/make and how heavy it should be?

Amazing, really gorgeous fish and hunt! How many pounds test were you using as tippet? And how long was your leader? I am asking because I heard these fish have a great vision and can be really picky

Indeed, this was day five of the hunt. I had seen these fish a week prior but wasn't fishing at the time. They can be very picky, but like all fish, sometimes they are just in the mood to eat. I was using a single piece of mono-150 cm of 40 pound Flouro. Keeping it simple.

FYI, that's a TFO ten weight paired with an old school Tibor Riptide reel with the drag fully locked down! Straight forty pound Seaguar leader. The fish ate one of my own ties, a yellow and bronze yak hair tuna fly.
