Sweet catch man, I can never figure out though, why muskies seem to always put up the shittiest fight. I think they have to be lb for lb the worst fighting fish out of all the freshwater species, including pike. They are much more elusive and harder to get to bite, but every fight I see with them, their fighting strategy just seems to be flopping around, twisting and turning, its so weird. Every other epecies seems to have an instict to jump, take as long a hard a run as possible, will try to swim into cover, either way though, I wish I could catch one.

Dang that is a crazy catch. COngrats on such a beautiful beast Flair. I was actually going to suggest to you that you need to go muskie fishing, whether it be out of a kayak or boat. I for one have never caught one and would love to, I have a $500 fishing kayak, (will get a better one that I can stand up on later) and I absolutely love it. I want to hook into a muskie out of that kayak especially with a fly rod. COngrats once again on a big fish of a lifetime. #NeverGiveUp :D

You should come to Upstate NY...great smallies and brown trout in the esopus creek and Ashokan Resovoir...also lake sacandaga...biggest pike in north america was caught there

I've pretty sure they've caught bigger pike in Canada but Sacanadaga still holds the record for the states. 40+ inch pike in Sacandaga, Cranberry, Allegheny Reservoir, and Champlain. Upstate NY is definitely the best place in the Northeast for trophy pike. Not to mention the NY record muskie is way bigger (like not even close) to the current world record muskie, it was caught back in the 50's before world records were a thing so it doesn't count as the world record even though it beats it by a lot. St. Lawrence River in upstate NY has the biggest muskie in the world!
