Kevin Jeanelle Forde Well for a combo of beach/ddi I would recommend an 8ft rod with at 6000 sized reel to start...The Penn Battle 2 is a good starter reel.

That would be even better...I like the thin line for the extra challenge/fight...But you are right...It does cut into your hand...The thicker line/thin leader is ideal!

My little blue caster has 10lb test (all of my old rod line)...We usually get a lot more action on the thinner lines...I think 15lb should be ideal...

In Trinidad, the fish we call Salmon, is not the Atlantic Salmon or others that are internationally known...Our "salmon" is more like a weak fish or sand trout/sea trout in the US...I will try to include this in some upcoming vids to explain...
