Cassia fistula, known as the golden rain tree. When I was golfing @ Lanna GC on Meriam ArmY Base in Chiang Mai in 2010; I hit a ball under one of these trees. I had just enough room to hit the ball. Just as I was on my back swing there was a clacking sound and a black bird flew over my head. Then I realized it was a huge black Beetle! It must have been 6" long with a 6' wing span. Freaked me out!

The Thai government should take action against throwing away trash everywhere. It all starts with educating kids in school imho

I understand your frustration with the rubbish Gordon it drives me mad, the more pretty a place is the more people come to trash it. You can not educate them, i have tried, even when you have family festivals/parties and have big black bin liners for rubbish they throw stuff on the ground. I have lost my temper a couple of times when it is at my house. When i stayed in Cha Am there was an American guy who used pick up bags and bags of litter next to the gym where i trained at. Every week he would bag up everything that was on the ground then over the next 7 days the Thais would throw it back down again. They are amazing people in Thailand but they have no shame when it comes to littering and do not want to change however good an example someone sets.

What will you do with the pumpkin Mr T, I’m guessing the Thais will cut it up for soup, but maybe you could roast it in your egg and then make a cream soup? Or will it just go to feed the skinny cow 555?

Hi Gordon - just FYI - the big baits are not actually hook bait...but rather ground bait / burley to attract the fish, which breaks down in to smaller particles when it gets to the bottom of the lake. The hook (or often hooks) are stuck in to the bigger ball of food, and are sucked in as the fish feed on the ground bait :) Rubbish........don't get me started on that!!

Hi Gordon I was just going to comment on the rubbish but you also like me cannot understand why people cant clean up after themselves, maybe education starting at an early age could help. Also, you don't see many rubbish bins about I have walked around for ages looking for a bin sometimes. We have a beautiful lake here at Rajabhat University but that also is left with rubbish, a friend of mine said he started to clean the area up near his fishing spot but was told by the authorities to stop, Its the only downfall here but lets hope things get better. I love Thailand and the people here.

I remember that trash left lying around used to bother Graham. In areas where there are trash barrels, people do a better job of throwing their trash in them. Until the government puts out barrels and signs and threats of fines, people won't change. Sadly, it's not only in Thailand.

I'm with you there on the rubbish G.T. what a beautiful spot spoilt by what i believe is ... laziness and don't care attitudes as displayed all over Thailand. Sure we can pick it up but as soon as you clean someone comes along and starts the mess all over again. Love your flowers in the garden mate... such a tranquil and peaceful area. Can't best the RIR breed... great poultry... had heaps when I was a kid on our farms. Great temperament just like pets. Keep up your informative vlogs they give us a sense of value and beauty in this world. Bushyboy Oz.

Gordon, be a good guy, and pick up the trash, I know it is not your job, but people like you, would keep this place beautiful. If I was there, this is what I would do. And again you have put out a very good video. Take care.

Thanks Buddy, I have thought and thought why they litter, and the only explanation I can think of is historically everything rotted quickly or was consumed by ants so they are used to natural clean ups! The farmers are just the same they leave plastic bags and bottles on the fields, and yes I have been known to stop pick up one of the said bags pick up all the rubbish and put it in the bag and then leave the bag in the centre of the Sala as a gentle hint that it is easy, and doesn't the place look better?

Maybe they fish on carp. Here they fish on carps with cooky dough mixed with potato flour, size tennis ball. Mai is right to talk to the chicken. Chickens are lovely animals.

Gday mate ever thought about keeping bees always need bees , that fishing lake looks good for me can see throwing some soft plastics and hard bodies around is catch and release? To western standards it is very poor they just dont care which in itself is sad ,i rekon a fishing kayak would go good on that lake we use them here in the sea good video .
