Mike you do now that tank is way to small for him you need maybe 3 to 4 times bigger tank for him cichlids need room to swim and he won't eat plain food you have to feed cichlids live food just letting you know and you will need to buy an even bigger one after that up to maybe a tank six times that size and you didn't wash your rocks the dust that comes off the rocks if you don't wash your rocks is poisonous to fish.

He’s only 45 gallons, a filtration system, and a tank hood away from the bare minimum to keep this fish alive for a significant amount of time. At least it currently has some oxygen.....
