Thanks for the advice! I think I will keep the tank temp at 78 also. It seems to be plenty warm enough for their health needs yet not so hot as to keep them them swimming frantically around the tank! So you think I might need even more of some small fish along with the 5 Balas to encourage the blood parrots to be out more? They are quite a mean bunch, frankly and things are calmer with them hiding somewhat !!

Well its up to you...I just added my giant danio to the tank and they became more active....eating out of my hand! I know that bala sharks are always on the move, so its your call!

This was beautiful. You seem to be a very humane fish owner who tries to keep his fish happy and comfortable. Too many fish owners are not aware of the stress they place on their fish with overcrowding and way too small tanks. I will look forward to your videos. I am just starting out to see how I like the Blood Parrots. As I previously wrote I have 4 bloods in with 5 Bala Sharks. A really fun tank. My blood parrots now stay out if I sit still and watch them, but run to their hides if I walk around!! What temperature do you recommend for my tank? I kept it at 80 degrees but have lowered that a degree or so. Thanks.

Thank you, I keep my temperature at 78 degrees! My blood parrots did the same thing and the only way I was able to get them to be more active was by added more smaller fish; they feel more comfortable in an active tank!

Yes I'm going to post a video this week of them...I do have to warn you that there are a lot less fry than before (more than half gone); for that reason I took out the giant danio because they are the only suspects! But I'll post a video in the mid week maybe on Wednesday!
