Hey all got a quick question for some plant experts:
I have been keeping tanks for almost 2 years now and have got the hang of keeping fish but plants are a different story, i have a 40 gallon breeder with Sagitaria subulata, java fern crypt balansae crypt wendtii green and brown, buce, spike moss, blyxa japonica and some anubias I dose excel every night about 1 capful and i use ferts as needed based on deficiencies i spot. The crypts buce java fern and spike moss are doing fantastic but the sag and blyxa are just sort of doing nothing. the sag is growing new green leaves but is growing extremely slowly not like sag and the blyxa is growing fast but new leaves constantly melt.

Would LOVE some advice

Dustin's Fish Tanks i want to talk to you about a brand new plant I picked up. It was 5 trimmings given to By one of the greats in cali and now it's taking over a couple tanks. I think the green house could really use it! It is a rare kind of rotala indica-HR and is completely purple and really good looking. This is a rare strain of the plant. Are you interested?

Fish For Thought I think the val gets red from both the natural sunlight and the eco complete has high iron to feed it

Hey Dustin have you ever thought about setting up a vermi-compost (worm compost) bin and using the worm casting you get from that in your aquariums as the substrate? I just started experimenting with it the last few weeks and have seen insane plant growth with nothing more then organic worm castings that I make from excess food scraps and some pool filter sand as a cap. The best thing I've noticed is that even when I pull roots out when removing a plant, I don't get the cloudy mess that dirt will often give you. So far my experiences have been great, the substrate for the castings started as organic coconut fiber and then any fruit or vegetable scraps we had.
