Hi Mate, sorry I can't say the exact area (to make sure we stay on good terms with the locals). But I can tell you this is East Coast Australia and there are 100s of Islands and Sand Cays out there, all beautiful and fishy!

Jonny took that case to Oman and back a couple times and it's been on a few flights since then. Seems pretty good. Only case trouble we've had was on a sand cay, where we all went out fishing for about 5 hours and when we came back in the middle of the day the sun had moved so the cases were no longer in the shade and man it was like beyond boiling in there. I donno how the rods didn't explode or melt haha. (That was my black Bazooka case as well as his orange one, and my case felt hotter, prolly just the because of the colour).

That whole trip cost me about $500. So not too expensive for what it is. Aussie Island trips are really cheap for us but we do em pretty rough, Cavy didn't bring enough food this one and was perishing a fair bit. I think having a mate with a boat who's cool with you just paying for petty is key to keeping costs down. We used to pay $1000 to get dropped on an Island which actually still isn't to bad split between a few people but much better to just pay for petty.

Hi mate check this at 4mins in - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfxxG9T9G_o&lc=UgwcYNx0zpz-upcZ7BV4AaABAg I use it for switching lure but also line twist (apparently even on a lure that doesn't spin your reel can put some small amount of line twist to ur line as it lays it on the spool, so in theory a swivel counteracts this).

The size is based off what will fit the split rings of the lures i'll be throwing and not so much off it's KG/LB (because they're all so bloody strong). For GT sized lures i'm using 212kg-360kg swiv range which is size 1/0 - 3/0. The brand I'm using is either NT -http://fishhead.com.au/nt-power-swivel/ or sasame - http://fishhead.com.au/sasame-power-swivel/

Not sure that mackerel is referred to as a spanish mackerel when everywhere else in the world it's known as a king mackerel. Nevertheless, it was a giant caught from shore!

we get Spanish mackerel here in Monterey Bay but they're only 18-20"at best so we fish with sabiki and catch 3-4 at a time. I guess they hit the Pacific and get real big. tight lines

Spanish Mackerel are a bit different than the king mackerel you guys have, they look almost identical but grow to over 50kg and I think they have a slightly different scientific name - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_mackerel

The current and the height tide in these zones in unreal....big wind on night and small waves in the morning....is that the current action i guess...anyway, for what i saw in my experience, cudas need the same quickly release that you do for mackerel, they are really fragile and die quickly....nice video as well bro

Protected by the great barrier reef as well, so even if there's big swell out wide it's nothing on the inside of the reef. Pretty magic for getting good fishing conditions in that sense!

Depends on the size but off the rocks and going for big ones we use PE8 min. Of course, you can go lighter and some people have landed them on super light line, but if you want to consistently stand a chance on a 20, 30, 40kg+ fish you want your line to be strong enough that you just grab your spool, completely lock up and it won't break. They pretty much destroyed us on Tuna gear for years and only now that we have PE8 - PE10, 200lb leader, strong rods and reels that match the line and put out 20kg+ drag are we actually landing them!

Hi Mate, this trip was just a vlog trip cus we've got enough footage for the next 7 Morningtide films. They take about 2 months each film so could even be nearly a year before I run out of footage for MTF. I'll try and get them done quicker but not much time at the moment. So the idea with these vlogs is to tide you guys over inbetween the MTF vids.

We did a do a trip to WA and fished for about 2 hours the entire trip! It was 4m-6m swell the whole time we were there and the boys just went surfing. Such high ledges and not very good options for C&R unless it's flat swell so haven't tried again. Even over here we find Islands to be the go because if there is swell can always head to the calm side and spin. Also sooo many sharks over there!
