Filmed on 4-3-17. Theres quite a few natural springs in the Nevada desert, but this one is much different. Located at Lake Mead, Nevada about 27 miles northeast of Las Vegas. About one mile past Echo Bay on North Shore Drive. Look for the palm trees, and picnic area. First in 1903 the water that flows out of the hard rock mountain into Lake Mead. There was an attempt to divert the water to nearby St. Thomas. A Morman city that had to be moved when Hoover dam was built in the 30's. St. Thomas was soon under 200 feet of water, but now that the lake is at all time lows. St. Thomas is finally back out of water. They laid cement to divert the water that is still there today. In the late 50's someone made it into a tropical fish hatchery. With the water being a constant 80 degrees all year round. It was a perfect site for a tropical fish hatchery. Now its named Rogers Spring. The tropical fish in the pond are now in the thousands.
Texas cichlids, pronounced sick lids which grow rather large...again Thanks for the memories !
