The NEW BEST Surf Fishing Rod? SURPRISING PRICE | Surf Fishing Jetty Fishing 2018

Could this be the best Surf Fishing AND Jetty rod? The first review on this rod! on youtube! It has all the high end components, the high end actions, at an affordable price. Can this surf fishing rod be the best rod on the market, especially due to its price? I have been waiting for this surf fishing rod for a long time, and it has barely been released. This rod has the potential to be the best surf fishing rig. ♫Music By♫ ●JNSN - Jaaz ●Song/Free Download - https://youtu.be/WpXGuMu7HMU ●Follow JNSN - http://smarturl.it/JNSN ► Music Credit: LAKEY INSPIRED Track Name: "Find A Way" Music By: LAKEY INSPIRED @ https://soundcloud.com/lakeyinspired Original upload HERE - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNJjF... Beach Bomber Fishing, yes , they are great distance rods, once one learns to properly load the rod, and the casting technique is at least decent

Samaki zing surf, line 20 - 40lb, cast 3 - 6oz, 12ft extra heavy $270 AUD. With a shimano ultegra ci4 14000xtb with 20kg drag $325 AUD. Its a beast of a surf rod and cast 6oz out a mile easily. Thats my top set up, i have another cheaper 12ft and a $180aud diawa ballistic x combo 9ft for lure casting. That covers my surf set up.

Beach Bomber Fishing I bought ocean master rod and daiwa bg 5000. Thanks for suggestions! Well I hope to catch a 50lb fish, but my area mainly has perch.. will a 50lb braid line will scare off smaller fish?
Beach Bomber Fishing
Beach Bomber Fishing - 6 years ago
Actually, I might be doing a video on this, great comment. Most beginners start with a spinning reel. Look for a reel that has some sort of sealed drag, sealed body, to protect from the elements. Reel should at least have 17lb or more drag, if you're gonna be chunking bait, reel should hold at least 309 or so yards of line, 50lb braid with a shock leader of 50 or so lbs. Good surf reels are; daiwa bg 5k, daiwa saltist 5k and up, penn spinfisher 7500 long cast, shimano spheros 8k and up.

Fred Fable
Fred Fable - 6 years ago
I disagree with this video...you choose a surf rod just because you like it. Not because a reason.
Reasons are:
Fish species.
Casting distance.
Weather. (In a storm you can fish, but you CAN NOT use a graphite rod, is a lightning attractor, use a fiber glass one instead)
Sensitivity of the rod.
Weight of the rod.
Action.
Spinning reel or Casting reel? Spinning or casting rod.

Poor video, very poor....my conclusion is bad.

Beach Bomber Fishing
Beach Bomber Fishing - 6 years ago
I discussed distance, how much to load, what to use it, i didn't describe the fish. because the SURF rod isn't limited to just redfish or striper. A lot of freshwater guys use these for catfish, striped bass, pike, ect.

Next time watch and analyze the damn video before you make a terrible comment and assumption.

how did you manage to break a tica dolphin, st croix mojo, breakaway ldx or hdx? the mojo has a 7 year warranty too. high sticking, throwing weight over the ratings, or driving with the rods in a rack outside of your vehicle, and rocks hit them from the road causing a crack or chip. those are the most common to break a rod. never broken anything that i have fished. CTS, Century, st croix legend, odm and rh composites.
Gregory Raniowski
Gregory Raniowski - 6 years ago
century is one of the best out there, if you take care of the rod it will out live you. a van staal is a nice investment, however it is not needed or a necessity. vs size a vs150 that should cover everything lol
Beach Bomber Fishing
Beach Bomber Fishing - 6 years ago

Beach Bomber Fishing
Beach Bomber Fishing - 6 years ago
I have read many posts crom there, but never actually made an account, i just may have to. I would like to one day build a custom rod on a gsb, I've heard that's one of the best blanks out there.

Yes, most rods are overrated, the breakaway hdx (which I have) is one of the few that are actually underrated lol.
Gregory Raniowski
Gregory Raniowski - 6 years ago
just about every rod bought at any tackle shop, whether its bass pro, cabelas, or local bait and tackle is overrated. i owned a st croix mojo 10'6 rated 2-6oz that rod at best is a 1-4.5oz max. thats generally what i am saying. a rod should not just break from heavy usage. there are lamiglas gsb 1321m rods that are almost as old as me still being fished in the Northeast (NY,NJ,MA) if you had the stuff, i am using would not need another rod ever again. sign up on stripersonline.com make some comments in texas section, after so many posts you can use the market place. buy used custom rods or blanks at a heavy discount from members. hell, someone may build you one at a discount! look for CTS, Century, Fiberstar composites, ODM, lamiglas gsb, plenty others too.
Beach Bomber Fishing
Beach Bomber Fishing - 6 years ago
People seem very surprised, the tica tc2 imho is not a veru good rod, the eyelets fell apart and guides cracked. I broke the dolphin on a really hard cast w 8oz, on the ground cast to he exact. St croix mojo broke on a cast, possibly from over loading, i was casting to its top end rating. The mojo is a great rod, just about $70 more. I broke an LDX on a cast. All my rods broke from heavy usage.

How big of a shark do you think the 10ft can handle off the beach with a penn 8500 ssv. I have the old 12ft off ang ocn mstr. It is a beast but hate lugging it around.
Beach Bomber Fishing
Beach Bomber Fishing - 6 years ago
Yea, the old one was heavy! I'm not sure, i would assume it would also depend on the drag applied and how you play the rod. I could say it could handle a 5 to 6ft black tip.

Tom Cruise
Tom Cruise - 6 years ago
I think you should have caught a fish on the rod before doing a review. Also some of the info you gave was incorrect I build rods and yes the components were good but that’s a $5-7 reel seat and the set of guides on that rod aren’t much more. You can buy and build much better blanks in that price rang. I curious to see how long it actually holds up. Basspro rods have been known to fail after use.
Beach Bomber Fishing
Beach Bomber Fishing - 6 years ago
I probably should've caught a fish on it, but they weren't biting that week. I think dragging a big weight with a lot of seaweed through hard current sufficed or be strenuous because it is dead weight. Although components aren't that much, you'll see that a good amount of rod companies fail to put quality components, especially in that price range.

on your rod building comment: Idk of any rod builder that can build a nice custom surf rod for $200, let alone under $170. I don't think that the average angler can build a surf rod.

Can you use a spinning reel on a casting rod? I've been told no that it will break the rod. What's your opinion?
Dak 88
Dak 88 - 6 years ago
Beach Bomber could you do a video on putting braided line onto a spinning real the right way. I've tried it laying the spool down on its side with the label up and laying face down. Even tried putting it in like a casting reel. Still get line twist. I'm new to spinning reels! If I could get away with it I'd just use my truth sm to catch striped bass at the dams.
Beach Bomber Fishing
Beach Bomber Fishing - 6 years ago
You will get knots, line slapping, and bust off guides. If you were to use a spinning rod on a casting reel you would lose a ton of accuracy.

Johnny Adame
Johnny Adame - 6 years ago
Can leads be used on it? I've broken a custom rod in the past because I used a lead weight on it. The rod was made for casting lures only. I currently use a 12' Ugly Stick, but have been looking for something lighter, but just as strong, something that won't break when I use a sinker and try to set the hook. I recently purchased a 9' Tsunami surf rod, but only use lures on it because I'm afraid of breaking it.
Beach Bomber Fishing
Beach Bomber Fishing - 6 years ago
I casted 8oz lead on this, it was pushing it because 8oz is the max for their 10ft version. Their 6 to 12oz can handle big baits.

Crazy, i use the 1 to 4oz 7ft, 9ft 2 to 5oz, and the 12gt 3 to 10oz. Nevwr snapped them, but they do seem overrated. The 12ft 3 to 10oz is definitely completely overrated, shit it can barely cast 5oz.
Jeff Kanarish
Jeff Kanarish - 6 years ago
In Hawaii, we call the Daiwa Coastal Salt Pro, the "Snap Pro". In your video, you mentioned how overrated many rods are for lure weight. I cast a 1.5 ounce Daiwa Waxwing lure on a 10.5' Medium-Heavy Fast Coastal Salt Pro, rated for lures up to 4 oz. The rod snapped 2/3 of the way up from the butt during a backcast. I checked with some acquaintances on "Whipping and Plugging Hawaii" on Facebook. Four out of 6 owners of the same rod had theirs snap under similar conditions. They said they would never consider buying another.

Oh, sorry, i didn't catch that. Look into the Daiwa coastal sp surf rods, they're among the beast at a great price, with quality components and actions, one of the best lure rods out there. I own 3 of them.

I am looking in the 10-11 ft range need to get it out there already have a 9ft rod

Honestly, if you can find it, look into the 7ft daiwa coastal sp surf rod. It is extremely hard to find, but worth it.

For $160, it sure looked like that rod had plastic reel seats...

most surf rods, 99% of them have graphite reel seats.

I appreciate your review because I’ve never heard of this rod (ocean master).
Some of the statements made I disagree with. I have both a team daiwa surf (10.5) and an airwave elite (9.5). I throw 6 oz pyramids with bunker heads as bait. Those rods are beasts!!! Especially the team surf!
Beach Bomber Fishing
Beach Bomber Fishing - 6 years ago
I didn't like the team surf, i felt many of their specs were overrated. As a lure rod, i like the 7 and 8fr team daiwa, and the daiwa coastal sp surf rod. I own both the 7ft and 8ft. in regards to the airwave elite; i broke one pretty loaded on a hard ground cast.

Nice video! I bought a new Tica rod with the same guides for $130 rated 1/2oz to 3oz. It's super light as well and I have nothing bad to say about it yet. Have you tried out any of their rods?
Beach Bomber Fishing
Beach Bomber Fishing - 6 years ago
No prob! I've seen a couple guys on Instagram fishing the Sp surf rod with lures with much success in that area.

Beach Bomber Fishing Hahaha gotcha. I've never tried out any of the Daiwa rods, I'll have to check them out! Out here in the SF Bay Area we don't have the luxury of having a wide variety of game fish, mainly just striped bass. Thanks for the info, tight lines.

Thanks for your review. What size reel would you recommend for the 9” Ocean Master, 500 or 6000 for lures?
Keith Parr

Beach Bomber Fishing I’m looking at a Tsunami Shield 5000 or 6000. I use the Tsunami 3000 for my inshore fishing right now. And really enjoy it. Thanks for any thought you have.
Beach Bomber Fishing
Beach Bomber Fishing - 6 years ago
Well would recommend a 4500 if you're using daiwa, 6000 if you're using shimano or penn. What reel were you thinking?

Have you tried the Okuma Cedros surf rods? I have the 11 ft and it’s a jetty beast. Also I paired it with a shimano twinpower 8000. I also have paired it the BG as well. Works like a charm.
Beach Bomber Fishing

I have tried the csx, but i wouldn't call it an 8 & baiter to cast heavy baits. It is a good rod, i do like them.

Good shit bro! It's hard to find rods that load right especially with 2 piece rods. I've been toying with the idea of getting 10' Calstar or 10' Seeker Ulua again but for the surf. 1 piece beasts haha, they cast so well and feel good when fighting a fish. I gotta see this rod next time we head out!

For the past 2 years I've ben using the bass pro brand surf rods that cost only 40 dollars each. They are both 15 footers.3 peice. Some of the plastic came out of one of the line guides. But they are still doing they're job. And they are also lite despite they're lenght.Someday I will upgrade.

All the breakaway rods are under 500 and completely blow this rod out of the water especially when it comes to casting distance..... I own several of each model and have owned this ocean master as well as other popular brands.... no comparison in my book
Beach Bomber Fishing
Beach Bomber Fishing - 6 years ago
Hawghunter629 Perhaps in casting but, every single breakaway i have owned has had the reel seat breakaway lol, i even snapped 2 ldxs. The hdx is a great rod, the reel seats are terrible unfortunately.

I'll keep my Harringtons.i still have 40 552 blanks .I got them from miss Harringtons daughter.i wrap my self 2 or three each year......for the pier I use 550s.the blanks where only 43.00.when I bought them.

I wonder if the company were still around, how their blanks would be... Those blanks are almost indestructible. Such great classics especially with the white grips.

Beach Bomber Fishing I've had 75 right before she went out of business I sold quite a few to People in Galveston
Beach Bomber Fishing
Beach Bomber Fishing - 6 years ago
dang, 40 blanks? No wonder people are selling them +$300 or so a blank, because you're hiding them all! lol. I see them go for that much cut down to 8ft, which in my honest opinion is way too much, especially cut down. They are good blanks though. Only reason I poke fun at them is because sometimes those rods are associated with pretentiousness up on the piers lol.

Beach Bomber Fishing yeah, spool is longer, I guess that helps with less friction on the line while casting, as to the other spinfisher that have a shorter deeper spool. Thanks again , and keep up the badass vids man.. fish on

That's what they say cus of the spool. There sealing is top notch though.

Beach Bomber Fishing thanks needed a new rod for this year getting ready for the reds in obx
Beach Bomber Fishing
Beach Bomber Fishing - 6 years ago
Thanks! I will say this, any daiwa rod under $150 will break, the tip will probably cut your braid thus needing to replace the tip, they are overrated in terms of how much they can cast. The only rod that's pretty good from daiwa at a reasonable price is the coastal sp surf rod, buy that's a lure rod along with the team daiwa surf rod.

The ocean master is way better when it comes to value.
