There is not many views here but i feel i need to try n educate folks a bit. yes you need a fishing license. Touching corals does not kill them. several rare special are very sensitive. I have a tank full of coral I handle sometimes daily. It's the trampling and breaking branches off, anchors dragging thru colonies used fishing line sawing thru sponges, sun tan lotion and habitat destruction thru pesticides and run off that kills corals.. a person with a gloved hand or something does not completely destroy things. This is a rubble zone from natural surge. The fish he caught is not a reef safe fish it will eat coral. it is hard to train them to eat food in an aquarium. And its fun catching things.. 80% of the planet is covered with salt water. Reality check!!!

The near total lack of coral is likely from collectors that destroyed this area before you. Mere touching or bumping destroys the coral habitat.

From the looks of it you were collecting on the reef surrounding fowey light, although recreational hook and line fishing is allowed, it is a no take zone for tropical fish.
