Hello btw I have a channle full of fish including betta fish if you ever get 1 let me know they are a tropical fish bettas need a 2.5 gallon but I only have a 1.5 gallon I think a 1 gallon bettas don't stink!! Unless you don't clean the tank your room won't smell but when you clean it it might. Betta fish don't really need a heater I recommend it unless your house is room temp btw bettas can't be in with other fish maybe a female can be with other it depends on the fish though!! Hope you get 1 the funny thing is my parents will let me get as much fish as I Wang but not 1 hamster!! XD enjoy!

+Daan 2001 Most fish won't over populate a tank from breeding so you don't have anything to worry about. The Barb family is a good way to start...hardy and colourful fish :)

I'd upgrade your Oscar as soon as you can. 10 gallon won't work for long. If you go 75 gallon, I'd add a few other cichlids to the mix...nice to have a few extras. Green terror would work also.

ok how long would you sugest i can keep the one oscar in the 10 gallon. and if i was going to go with 75 with the one oscar how many of the other fish would i be able to have and what do you think going for many fish with it or just the 2 oscars would be better for me being this is my first serious tank

2 would probably be ok in a 55 but it could get a little tight....you would be better to get a 75 gallon if you can because it gives you a 18 inch depth. If you decide on adding a few other cichlids, make sure your Oscars are a decent size first so that the new fish don't test their dominance. I've always liked the combo of Oscars with jack dempseys, convicts or jewel cichlids. Raphael Catfish and some larger growing synodontis catfish would make a nice addition to the tank for clean up.

+ok then Just fill with water and add a dechlorinator...then you're good. If you really want to get it there, then see if you can find some old filter media from someones established aquarium....just drop it in the tank for a month and your tank will be established right away.
