Collected multiple times on the Napo River in the Amazon, this Oscar was collected at the end a stream FULL of syndondist catfish. I imagine him sitting there in full Oscar fashion taking off sick and weak fish at the end. NOTE: Later on this trip we did end up eating Oscar. Number 9. Festivum Cichlids. Think of this fish like a cross between an angelfish and a severum. These suckers were all over in the slightly lower PH of the Napo river. They have the cool elongated pectoral fins on the front. I took about 4 of these home and learned that hard way they are also big fans of Eating Rotala. Number 8. Sticking with a plant eating fish. Severums, The way these fish look in petstores does not do them justice compared to the colors they show in the wild these had an amazing color on anal fin, both bright blue and orange colors. Number 7. Hatchet fish. I heard the legendary fish keeper Mr. Mike Barber yell with Joy as he scooped up 11 in ONE NETTING. Yeah. Low PH still water, these weren’t collected off of the main river but rather one of the black water ponds the local people were kind enough to let some gringos go and play around in. Number 6 Cory Cats. We collected these on two different rivers. The first trip back in 2012 was on the Napo. We are all hanging out at night on the boat when Devin “Captain Devin” disappears. He casually walks back into the boat with a clear plastic bag, drops it on the table and goes. Did you all say you wanted some cory cats? The second trip we were allowed to drip net around these friendly folks home where we pulled up all kinds of cories. Number 5. Blood fin Tetras. These were a total shocker to me as we collected them on a beach. These are not your standard Bloodfins, they have a longer anal fin and exhibited more blue on their bodies…. I brought home about 15 of these but they slowly jumped out at the coffee shop where I kept them. Number 4. Anglefish. Straight up Angel fish are the my favorite fish if I had to pick just ONE. I simply couldn’t believe how many of them we were pulling out left and right of the Napo river. At one point we had a net of probably 45 of them. I’ll never forget hand sorting them and throwing them back while I picked out the best ones… And this guy right here is kinda a jerk Number 3 Knifefish At one point we actually had THREE of these sucker on the boat you can click the link and see all three varieties of them. The colors of these unique fish were unreal we actually caught the coolest on in these amazing spiked Victoria lilies. Which deserve a video of their own. Number 2. Tigerinis catfish. Oh yeah. Not a Monster fish I am trying to keep any time soon but certainly an awesome surprise and fight on my fishing line one early morning. Totally just an awesome predator fish, I don’t recommend them in the Aquarium, but certainly great to see in the wild. NUMBER 1. The Number one coolest fish by far we collected in the wild was the Peacock bass. Totally a fantastic fish. Now to collect these suckers we used a full out seine net along a river bank. These fish lived up to their wild reputation as more than three times I saw them leap over the top of the next going, “No Sir” Not me Not today!

I could afford to go to some fish farms
And river near me
Rivers are so polluted nobody want to go their
That's why I stopped
I especially want to get some species from the Xingu and try to start breeding them before those populations get ruined by the dam.
