I understand that you're sponsored and speaking about norms and generalities, but I have a 15-yr-old hand-me-down'd IX2000 that has not only outlasted any other mostly metal non-Shimano spinning reel I've had, but has landed 3' pikes, 6# smallies, and a few 4'+ river muskies (go to any smallie fishin' forum and ask, muskie love smallie lures like 6" ribbontails); sure, price is a great indicator of of quality... but not always: Shimano spinning reels are undeniably the long-living Toyotas of the fishing world. Also, you forgot to mention how adaptable spinning reels are, from not needing to adjust the reel from one lure type/weight to the next, and that it's so easy to have several different spools of line to swap out for so many different situations and styles of presenting bait.

Agreed. Best under-$60 reel I've ever owned. If that's too pricey, a Trion is a decent 1st reel.

Man you've influenced more beginner bass fisherman than you will ever know. (including myself a long time ago when you were still with bassresource, 10yrs?) Who knows how many it could be... Tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, a million?! Think how many more it will be in 30 years. Digital media doesn't degrade.

Great video, just got into fishing right at christmas, so havent gotten to do a lot. I own a lews american hero baitcaster combo in 6'6" med heavy and Shakespeare rod and reel for saltwater. I believe that this will help a lot and am looking forward to future tips. Keep up the work Fluke!!!

I would spent 100 or 150 if your going to fish 4 days a week or more .. I would get a 60 dollar combo if I was fishing on weekends or a few times a month

The difference between a 2500 and 3000 id big enough to get the 3000. Slightly more inches per turn,more line capacity and most importantly a much better handle.
