Hi, how did u plant the anubias inside the pot? Is it tied to a drift wood or just and organic soil with the rhizome exposed just above the substrate? Thanx a lot.. love your work!

Yes, miracle gro organic potting soil works great. the organic brand ensures there are no added chemicals that might hurt fish.

Hi I.R., I just hold the anubias while I fill the pot with the soil to make sure the roots are covered, but the rhizome is exposed. Thanks!

Hi Josue,
In the large 240 gallon, I don't put any supplements yet. I started with organic soil in the substrate with osmocote fertilizer (http://amzn.to/2oox5L1). This substrate should last at least a year based on previous experience...after that, I would probably need to dose iron and potassium.
In the small 40 gallon emersed tank, I also have organic soil with osmocote...I also have red worms and snails that breakdown the organic matter and convert it into nutrients for the plants.

As usual, a very informative video. Thank you so much for sharing.I always wondered what the difference between emersed and immersed plants, and then there are bog / pond side plants that allow their roots to be 100% below water but would not survive a total immersion. I am amazed by how many plants you have in your emersed project and I am also so impressed by how many types of anubius you are successfully transitioning. I think your fish room is the best I have seen! Thanks Again

Cindy, I don't have a facebook forum, but maybe in the future. With anubias, I've read in a forum (linked below) that for pollination to happen, the flowers have to be above the water and the two flowers have to be from unrelated plants, i.e. self- pollination doesn't work. I will definitely document any progress I make and put a video together to share. Thanks!

Do you have a facebook or forum that you post on... I also love Anubias and their little 'lily' like flowers, sometimes I have 3-4 flowers at a time. I would also love to learn more about the plan. I wonder if they are related to lilies in some way?

Thank you, Cindy! I love anubias, they have so much to offer. I eventually want to get into pollinating anubias as a means to propagate them...it's yet another aspect of the planted tank hobby that is not talked about much.

Hi, the bulbs in the 240 gallon tank are 100 Watt LEDs, 5000K color, PAR 38 (Phillips brand).
The bulbs in the 40 gallon tank are 75 Watt LEDs, 5000K color, PAR 38 (Sylvania brand).

Neat rain drip system! I am slowly but surely learning about discus fish and their habitats and whatnot and I love a lot of your setups. I hope to get some discus in the coming months! Thanks for the info :)

That's great! Discus are beautiful fish and can be addicting...once you get a few, you will want more until you get all the color strains! :)
