It is possible to have multiple male bettas in a tank, you just need to give them space to get away from each other. A 20 gallon long, heavily planted, with separate "territories" at either end of the tank is large enough to house 2 males, and 3-4 females. Just make sure there there are enough plants to act as a "screen" between the two areas, and plenty of background plants for any girls to hide in...

Hey Joey.. I'm getting a black diamond on Monday.. its travelling a long distance. Should I acclimate it to the water using dripping system or just acclimate it to the temperature and add it immediately .. because I've heard you a couple of times saying that when the fish is travelling long distance just acclimate it for temperature and add it but wherever I read they say drip water for couple of hours.

Elemental Phoenix my tank I'm thinking of doing it in is 20 gallon and I was thinking if I let the tank grow out before adding the bettas that would work
Elemental Phoenix
Elemental Phoenix - 6 years ago
Animals and Stuff you have a higher chance of success if you instead have multiple Female bettas, they are able to live alongside other females as well as other species
Kody Grieve
Kody Grieve - 6 years ago
yeah nah, ive only seen more than 1 betta in a 300 gal system. dont do it, it'll be a death sentence to one of the bettas.
Animals and Stuff

Kody Grieve what about a heavily planted tank like hole bottom of the tank planted?
Mitchell Lubline
Mitchell Lubline - 6 years ago
Animals and Stuff size depending I would say discus shouldn't be in anything less then a 75G. But if their hatchling size of 1/4"-2" a 20 with other same size critters would work short term and I do stress that short term part due to discus insane stress out levels.
Kody Grieve
Kody Grieve - 6 years ago
not sure about the discus, wouldnt have thought so and no you cant have multiple male bettas, they will fight and kill each other.

Not all fish will do that but most will quickly learn that humans mean food I'd they're kept in captivity for any length of time. I hope I answered your question :-)

Q.

for the Rays on the bottom of the tank. I understand that the amount and type of sand is reasonable for their well being... Is there something you could add on to the tank, knowing that the Rays are going to want to go up, give them a rounded edge (maybe colored to match the sand) for them to move around on and up? It might look good if it was to match into the Sand on the bottom. I know, cray cray.

You can't keep Bichirs with rays, they'll take chunks out of the ray's disk.
Dan Ford stokes
Dan Ford stokes - 6 years ago
You underestimate how much and the way fish can eat. If you put a whole cooked muscle in them rainbow fish would eat the whole of it in less than 1 min. I know because I feed my own rainbow fish this way. It's more fun for them. Also every type of fish I've ever kept LOVE the above mentioned food more than any other I tried which is many. The plus side is you can get big bags frozen from the supermarket at a quarter price of the pet shop also the fish don't get the funny illness they can get from eating to much prawns or shrimp.
Dan Ford stokes
Dan Ford stokes - 6 years ago
Give them rainbow fish some meat like blood worm and chopped cooked muscle. Fish love big chunks of food to nibble and graze on during the day.

Do rays have a type that do not get very large? No bigger than the one you just placed in there? It be nice to have one that you would not have to find a home for later cause he needs a bigger home. I had to do that with a couple of fish before.

Rays are expensive delicate fish that need big tanks despite their size. Even advanced keepers struggle with them, theyll need 300 liters of very carefully kept water, at minimum so please consider this before buying a ray

Hi Joey I'm new to your channel.
I hope you all your FISH are doing good.
I have a Question for, I've been watching your channel for a couple of days.
I've got a tank that's 5ft long 2ft high and 2 and half ft wide.
I don't know it works out into US Gallons.
I'm thinking of turning it into a Cichlid tank what I want to know how may FLOWERHORN Cichlids would I be able to keep in my tank.
I would also like to have some Severem again how many of them would be ok in my tank I know both Cichlids grow between 12 to 14ins also any Clown coach a few nice Pleco's.
I know from watching your Channel your the man to ask.
I know you must get thousands of emails away.
I would really appreciate it, if you could get back to me.

TheOpelkoenjas
TheOpelkoenjas - 6 years ago
Hint: lift up the wood with some small wood parts to create space underneath the big parts. ;) Looks natural too when properly done. Don't mind the moss not being under water, the wood absorbs enough water for the moss above to thrive too. Just give that moss a spray with water when you feed your fish and done. Works like a charm here.

Cheers.

Ps: branches sticking out of the water are actually more natural. Give it a try, for real. ;)

The king of DIY - 6 years ago
Because it a stingray in a bucket... Temp acclimation happens within minutes... Few scoops of water and they are fine. Drop acclimating her would have been like a slow poison. I wanted her out of the bucket. Wirth that said, i have never drip acclimated anything. I dont believe in it and think its unnecessary. In this gallery alone, i acclimated hundreds of fish this same way... some worth thousands of dollars individually and never lost a single one.

Rose Cloverbridge
Rose Cloverbridge - 6 years ago
Drip acclimate can actually be quite deadly to your fish, many have died by doing that. It's best to just hover them over in a bag etc, less of a risk of it dying. Obviously it only occurs in some fish, but best to be on the safe side

Okay I need advice... So I am a highschooler who like most is broke, and I would love to keep a large mouth bass in an aquarium but I only have a 30 gallon aquarium, does anyone know of a fish that I can feed minnows and nightcrawlers that stays small is cheap and can fit in a 30 gallon. Also I just have a couple of baby bluegill, and a craw fish in there right now, will a bluegill be able to live for a long time in a 30 gallon?
X-Pert 0utdoors
X-Pert 0utdoors - 6 years ago
Thanks for the advice
Emory myparentsnevergavemealastname
Emory myparentsnevergavemealastname - 6 years ago
It sounds to me like your just keeping fish that you catch which is never advisable. I don't know much about keeping bluegill, but I do know that they get rather large and a 30 gallon wouldn't be big enough for a single fish. Bluegill are also extremely territorial and aggressive, so you should probably expect a lot of injured/dead fish unless you have a massive aquarium.
Avani
Avani - 6 years ago
I think bluegill become territorial and need space to accommodate for that if they're kept together. Personally, I wouldn't really add anything, but I'm not familiar with keeping those fish.

Joey Davidson
Joey Davidson - 6 years ago
Lauren the pellets could be too big and also if the fish was raised eating only certain types of food the Chances are they won't eat something different, its best when they're young to feed them a variety so they will eat anything later in life
Lauren

I might try soaking them and the garlic thing! They're mostly tropical fish in the issue tank. (neon tetras, platys, a dwarf gourami, a few mollies)
Tony Canniffe
Tony Canniffe - 6 years ago
Lauren Type of fish? Can you try another pellet? Or crush the ones you have, they could be too big. You could also soak them in tank water before feeding. Food with garlic added is usually appealing to most fish. As a last resort, starve them for longer. Like 7-10 days. Won't hurt them and they might go for it then.

You probably already know this Joey, but a good way to feed bottom dwellers in a mixed species aquarium is using a opaque pvc tube, push the food down it and the rainbows won't be able to access it :) Nice one for doing this :)

Would the 375 be big enough to hold the single pearl even as adult? With the wood layout as is, would the remaining space be enough? I really like the pearl in that tank.
Chris Craft
Chris Craft - 6 years ago
I understand that Joey will move her once she gets big enough and that she would eat the Rainbows. I didn’t word my question correctly. If I had a 375 with the same dimensions and aqua scape, would that be big enough to hold a pearl full grown?
Cajun Queen
Cajun Queen - 6 years ago
Not enough floor space and she would eat the rainbows. She’s going with the other rays once big enough.
