Go halides again! You won't be disappointed.
I went LEDs and back to my old lights after 8 months.
Sorry, no comparison!!! Halides all the way for a 400gal!

Alex Correa Think I am going to build a 750 gallon in the future. I have the tank already..... just need to make up my mind. If I do set it up those 400's will be going back on with my radions supplementing.

Any update on the sleeper gobies and clearing up the water? If cleared, how long did it take?  I had a diamond goby that jumped out and always caused a sand storm.  I swore to never get a sand sifting goby again.  Really cool fish but hated the sand everywhere.

Im not exactly sure on the time but if I had to guess I would say 4 years. I have now since logged the new corals added with pictures and dates.

Brilliant video, a great advert.....about all the reasons not to keep a reef set up. The complexity and the amount of equipment is just nuts, and leaves little room to actually enjoy the fish and corals.
Etienne StjeanduCouteau
Etienne StjeanduCouteau - 9 years ago
It's like driving a Unimog. Pretty much appeals to the Engineer in all of us,
with no concern that it's actually a useful truck. More gears and levers than
necessary. Looks like a well thought out system as the goal is self regulating.

Mann Lock
Mann Lock - 9 years ago
+BulkReefSupplyCom He said in the video that the stuff come out of his other tank and in a previous comment mentions the green slimer was 4 years of age so one can only assume that a lot of the larger corals are 3 to 4 years old in a 2 year old tank.

That's an amazing tank! I noticed you were using a canon to film the video. I'm sure you know this but it was out of focus at some points because I don't believe they autofocus! Not trying to be mean or anything just letting you know you can manually focus to give us an even better few of your beautiful tank. btw, did you figure out what happened to you sps!?!? :-/

Thanks for all the compliments guys!!! The kalkwasser line is about 1 1/2" above the first chamber in the sump. It does from time to time get clogged. I just wiggle it to break up the kalkwasser in the line.

The dosing pump went out shortly after this video. BRS sent me a new one under warranty and the new one is dead silent. I guess as time went by I never realized how much louder it got. The temp is weird as my 180 required a chiller but where this one sits in the house it is under my ac vents for the living room. I guess the ac keeps the temp in check and with it being such a large amount of water the lights really don't get to heat it up as fast as say a 100 gallons.

Tank looking good, where is your output from your skimmer drain to? Cant see it from the angle of your stand. I just got the xp3000 ext and was just getting ideas on how to properly plumb it. Btw, how do you keep the temp down with all those halide wattages? No chiller? Also try the tunze ato

I use 3-400 watt metal halides with Radium 20K bulbs. Also run two 72" super actinic vho's. I just added a 48" Current USA deep blue led actinic to add more of a pop to the corals. I will do another video on the lights and the mp-60's I added as well.
