Great for people like me and my wife...we are getting on in age and diving down isn't something we need to do anymore. Hey we have a sub for that anyways!. But really for surface cruising and checking out nice reefs and such with maybe a small dive down...these are perfect.

When I snorkel normally, I go underwater for a few moments while holding my breath. When I get to the top, I blow out and inhale. If your insinuating that you don't breath heavy for the first couple of breaths after surfacing, then I question your experience.

I tried one of those masks. Great for shallow water. I swam for a long time and started breathing hard. That's when I found that when breathing hard, the ball shuts your air off.

Chuck Hoover I would say a goatee would be fine. Depends on your beard. You still have to create a tight seal. With a regular mask I have to shave a thin strip at the top of my mustache . If I forget soon as I get in the water,I'm like shit!! Bad seal.

I guess if all you ever do is snorkel in 3' or less they're cool. But while deep diving there is no way to compensate for ear pressure and thus useless.

As a guy who has a goatee, I've always love snorkeling but hated that the salt built up under my nose and I didn't like using a gel to make a good seal. I'm looking in to these.....thanks for the quick review - very helpful!

Hi, I like your video's. For the lady; make sure you have a quality, comfortable mask that is properly fitted. The mask should not touch your nose or the bridge at all. Secondly, most divers/snorkelers tend to over-tighten the mask in an attempt to stop them
from leaking causing just the opposite. The mask should be just snug enough to keep it from moving on it's own at the surface
and below, the weight of the water will do all the work for you.

Just something I've learned over the years training hundreds of people to dive. If your already doing the above, the only thing I would suggest is trying a different mask.

I avoid this product based on several negative review on the internet. I'm more confident with a normal full dry snorkel & google and these are only $12-17 (tempered glass & soft silicone)

Bob, Does your breath flow through or around the upper vision section of the chamber? Seems that if it is not channeled around the vision area, it would fog very easily.

johnnybarbar ....you would be correct about the foging .Fit is critical or you will have blow-by and the lenses fogs up immediately. There is an inner chamber which deverts the air to the snorkel. sadly it leaks and fogging does occurs.

There was another review of these masks done quite a while ago that may have been worked out by now. That was the individual complained about how they fogged up when snorkeling. I'll be very interested in you doing another review under normal operating conditions after you return to the boat and put these to real use. Thanks for the introduction tho. I'm a little more open minded to them now after viewing this video.

People are complaining that you can't equalize with this type of mask if you buy a good one they are designed to be pushed under your nose on the outside of the mask and it pushes in on your nose so you can equalize

The limitation on these is that you can't pinch your nose to equalize pressure when diving . Other than that they're great for surface viewing.

Any issues when going upside down? I've seen some reviews of others where they work great when looking down, but if you look up or are upside down (snorkel facing ground), thr valve opens and floods the mask.

I use a full face mask for diving (can't hold a regulator in my mouth), so let me know how this one goes!

Although there is a way to equalize without pinching your nostrils closed and blowing, it doesn't
work for everyone. Also because of the large volume of the mask it would be difficult to equalize
mask squeeze, which takes little effort if any with a regular mask. I would say 1'-8' and this rig would be fine.

The Tactical 6 String there is a way to equalize by moving your lower jaw forward. It's difficult at first but once you figure it out it becomes second nature.

I've had one of these for about a year. They re really good but you do have to have them done up tight otherwise water will get in around the chin area.
Also, the seal doesn't work so well with lots of facial hair.

Something for a space movie not swimming, but it has some interesting features for folks like Amanda with a broken nose,etc. This may be the beginning of a way for some favorable side money during hurricane season etc, not as Rick Moore/SSL does, real estate or resorts,etc but single item promotion maybe, related to products you use ,then get support from the distributor or mfg. The problem with the full face mask snorkel combo is that your face gets too warm. Keep that thing on for a half mile (or even quarter mile) swim and you won't be so happy with it.

Head has a snorkel with a mouthpiece that fits against the roof of your mouth which I find very comfortable.

The main thing for these masks is, it's not a dive mask. Free diving past a handful of meters is not what they are for. You can't equalise properly with them.

The problem with the ping pong ball float is that (especially inexperienced) snorkelers become too comfortable and then invert themselves underwater and get a mask full of water they can't handle. Partly because of the volume of water, partly because of the surprise and partly because they are not trained in how to handle such a situation.

So for basic looking down fish watching they're fine. How would they be for diving the boat? Untangling prop or cleaning hull? Can you see well enough to do the chores? Also, where's Megan? Good job on the review. Oh, did strapping it on help her with the comfort issue vs pulling it down conventionally?

+Ron Hunter yeah for basic they are fine. You probably can't dive too deep unless you can clear with it holding your nose. Vision is excellent. Yeah they are definitely more comfortable. Megan is taking this season off

It looks super cool. But if you're unable to grasp your nose, how do you depressurize your sinuses when diving past 6 or 8 feet deep?

You have to learn how to depressurize using your jaw. Do a fake yawn and that should do the trick. Not everyone can do it that way. I don't think these will be great for 30' depths, but the average snorkeler won't need that.

+Elle DelSol hmm that could be an issue. Diving in a pool obviously I could not do that. I can clear my sinus without grabbing my nose but I'm sure most can't
