Seems that anaerobic bacteria will consume nitrates from your reef tank, all you have to do is get the bacteria started by supplying some food.. that food being regular granulated sugar! .... time will tell!

I've run 10" deep sand beds, shallow sand beds, sugar sized, course sand ect but bare bottom seems to work the best. My tank stays clean and I have no nutrient issues. At times I think about adding a sand bed but when you see what I remove weekly from the tank you'll know why I don't.

I dosing 3% hydrogen peroxide because of my blue tang have a pop eye. So because i have some green algae on the rocks, i hit them with the hydrogen peroxide, because it kills algae also.

Wrapped a filter around a power head. Then took a turkey baster to the live rock. If I had the filter floss sock on the power head the first time, Im sure there would have been a lot more crap to show. This was with a 1200 pump. This is a time lapse of my 2 year old reef tank. I had my ups and downs, as you can see but I really enjoyed it so far and don't regret getting it at all. I have lots of more improvements I want to make next year. More corals, getting finally some metal halides and so on.

So had to pick up this guy coukdnt resist. Hes doing great eating frozen and of cpurse live. Doesnt care for the damsel in the tank which im cool with. Let me know if you'd put another one in the tank or just let him be the man.

finally got the CREE led modules in. these are the eshine units with dimmers. 60W per unit with 3W LEDs. This is the back view of the tank which is built into the wall. check my other vids for front view. Tank is now 7mth old. in this vid lights are running at 50% blue & white.

This large 220 Gallon Reef tank is it well stocked and has a great setup with everything you need to run a reef tank properly. Well lit with Kessil AP700 two of them.
